Staten Island is often ignored when it comes to pizza, but anyone who follows Barstool Prez knows that there are some absolute GEMS when it comes to pizza on the island. They will not be named in this review.
Two of the other places that serve pizza that were very well-rated by Prez were closed or on vacation for 4th of July. Bravo! Pizza figures prominently on New Dorp Lane, has sufficient parking, and a nice-looking exterior.
It is sizable, having a large bar, plenty of seating in the sportsbar/restaurant area and a pizzeria on the other side.
Service was awesome...polite and attentive, made sure the table was cleaned, checked back often and helped as needed.
I was with a fellow pizza afficionado, and we were excited to try the place out. We got the plain pizza and the arugula salad because who doesn't want salad on their pizza!?
Bravo! Is good take out pizza, and better for those who aren't pizza enthusiasts...but want a decent pie to accompany their beer. In that scenario, the Beer would be center stage and the pizza would be the supporting role. We found the crust a bit lacking and the sauce to have an extra spice/kick that it didn't need. The pizza looked great...cheese was fine. Maybe a bit oily...but that's never a real issue.
If the other pizzerias are open, then there wouldn't be a reason to go to Bravo! for pizza...but if you want to meet up and have drinks and not focus on the food, watch the game on the big screen TVs.... then Bravo...
Read moreI was famished when I entered Bravo Pizzeria, Restaurant and Bar. I spontaneously pointed to a slice about an inch thick sprinkled with bacon. As I waited for my slice to heat, I ask the counter clerk some questions and Frank gave me a little history (He could of been the owner, but I did not ask) The place is recently renovated and it suits all from adolescents from the local HS, to Moms that want to sit and hv a meal from the restaurants or the Dads that may just want to take the edge off w/ a drink at the bar area! When I got my slice OMG!! the bubbling cheese was leaking out the sides! I sat in my car and devoured what appeared to be a “pizza lasagna”! It was generously filled with layers of pepperoni, sausages, bacon, onions, peppers, mozzarella cheese and what appeared to be ricotta cheese!! You will need a fork to fight all that goodness into your mouth! Its big enough to share but if u have a big appetite one will suffice your hunger for about $6 bucks!!! I will definitely recommend and will explore more options of their menu in the near future! Come here ready to break all dietary rules!! Worth...
Read moreWhile the neighborhood is (understandably)still grieving the loss of Genero'ss Pizzeria, Bravo does a great job at filling that hole! Granted it's not the same because no two pizzerias are but the food is phenomenal and the staff is absolutely amazing! I went in there for my first time today with my buddy who frequents there and all the food that was going in the garbage they offered to me and my friend and let me tell you not just from their niceness (but that does have a lot to do with it LOL) they have a new customer and I will never forget them offering me food like this. Out of all nights for them to offer me free food tonight is the night that I needed it LOL. Five star rating and review.
P.S. if anybody is missing Gennaro's Pizza go to Rabs bowling alley they have the old chef there and they also have the only open remaining gennaro's restaurant inside so while I don't think you can get the old school calzones or zeppoli's that Gennaro's was famous for you could at least get an old school...
