We visited this little gem on a whim & SO glad we did. This is 1 of those only-known-to-those-who-know spots. The A/C was out but this is a simple, take-away place. The owner, Cesar/Caesar (not sure of spelling!) knows his stuff & was nice, courteous & fried up some amazing catfish (we were SO in the mood for some fish n chips)... and crinkle fries were involved (yaaaas)! Everything was seasoned & fried to perfection. We also think the tartar sauce was homemade & it was very delish. The servings are very generous & his prices are excellent. Read moreThe positive reviews have to be shills. NO ONE is going to pay $13 for a fried whiting sandwich, or white tablecloth restaurant prices for mediocre to bad shrimp/fish/rice/fries.
The Famous Fish Market in Harlem is still charging less than $10 for a humongous “sandwich” filled with 4-5 freshly fried whitings, and many people think it’s the best in New York.
If this place doesn’t cut its prices in half, I predict the location will have a “For Rent” Sign on it...
