Cashier there was very rude and antagonistic. I was just buying baby food for my 7 month old and by the time I got to the cashier I got a whole lecture of how masks are important and that I am going to make everyone sick and that I am a republican and republicans are bad. I had to pull my mask down to breathe because I was in there for 20 minutes and could not breathe and I have asthma and he was making me feel like I am a walking HIV cancer ebola patient. And the kid behind the counter is 20 years old. I am 42. Give me a break. They are too politically motivated here at the store. He was proud to say he is a democrat and gave me a very bad vibe , very unwelcoming and very sinister. I am a paying customer. We should be treated with respect, not like we have a disease. If they keep this up, they will lose more customers. I was the only person in the entire grocery store. They should treat their customers with respect and gratitude not with anger and politically motivated hate speech and democrat talking points. Just because I support our President, these people took offense to it. I am proud of our President and our country and I am a hardworking, disease-free, tax paying New Yorker. Please treat your loyal community customers with just a little...
Read moreI use to like this store, a lot. But this is the third time I’ve found expired food on their shelves in the past couple of months. I was excited to see the Forager yogurt on sale but then I saw all of them were a week expired. Same thing happened with other products that were on sale. One was expired by a month. On top of that, their prices have soared. It’s actually cheaper for me to buy at Whole Foods in Manhattan. The problem is that Key Foods has monopolized the neighborhood supermarkets. Not only do they own this Food Universe, but they also own the Fresh n’ Save Key Food on QB@46th St, the Green Valley on Greenpoint Ave @44th St and the Food Dynasty on Skillman @51st St. Guess they keep the different names to make it people think they are competing stores. Nope. The money's all going into the same corporate pocket. One more warning about sales: they've gotten lazy about putting up sales sign, especially the 1st few days. You have to use the circular. And watch the prices as they're rung up. A week ago 3 separate items scanned at...
Read moreShopped here for years as it’s closest and always open. Good selection and clean, but be careful and read your labels, I’ve often gotten home only to notice something was expired. Last week was cookies expired in Nov, just now I had moldy Hawaiian rolls. I’m still not used to checking every label as that should be a given. Also the popsicles are often a mess, seemingly melted and refrozen which makes me wonder about frozen meats. I don’t bother to bring them back anymore because management is very rude, which is the likely explanation for the cashier complaints. These cashiers are nice, young folks helping us get through a very stressful time, and if you’ve overheard how they’re spoken to, both by customers and management, you’d understand why they aren’t always smiling. Same goes for the stock folks - they’ve always been very helpful and kind and deserve to be...
