The Lowery is easily our favorite place in the neighborhood for drinks or food. The food is consistently delicious, the cocktails are excellent, the beer is cold and priced right, and the atmosphere is immaculate. Plus they have genuinely the kindest, friendliest staff I’ve ever experienced. Indoors is cozy and usually decorated cheerfully for the season, and outdoors is perfect for dining al fresco in the summer with a glass of sangria (I like the white sangria).
Some highlights of the cocktail menu are the “Busy Bee” (gin, honey, lemon, bubbly) and the “Green Gimlet” (gin, cucumber, mint, lemon), but it’s also the right kind of place to get a masterfully-executed classic cocktail too. The draft beer selection is solid too, with several local and region options, and of course perfectly-poured Guinness is an option.
For food, it’s really hard to go wrong especially from the specials menu. It’s a diverse menu but everything from the Irish fare to the flatbreads is well done. Perennial brunch favorites are the breakfast tacos (yes really!), the sausage and gravy brunch flatbread, and the steak eggs benedict (served on what I’m pretty sure are homemade scones). Steak is consistently well prepared across the menu, for that matter, so definitely consider anything with it.
Finally I want to commend everyone on the staff, especially Anne, for being extremely attentive to food allergies. My partner has several allergies which usually makes dining out difficult, but the Lowery always makes it a safe and comfortable experience. If there’s a way to prepare a dish to be safe for you, they’ll find it.
Without exaggeration, my partner and I are apartment hunting and staying close to the Lowery is one of our top criteria. We bring all our friends and family here and they always leave impressed,...
Read moreOvercast, rainy, and cool temperatures on this Sunday evening in NYC. Searched for a Bar/Pub/Eatery in the Sunnyside area, in hopes of finding a place with good food, service, and prices!
And, we certainly found the perfect combination - in every way possible! We were greeted by a staff member - in a very friendly and warm way - and were immediately seated, as there was no wait for a party of 2.
Our waitress (Jane) came over after a few minutes, and she was truly the shining jewel of our experience! Jane was friendly, warm, and genuinely nice - and helped us with questions we had about food and drinks. She recommended their burger (which was simply PERFECT) - did I mention PERFECT - and made our first dining experience at Lowery, a very memorable one (in the most positive way possible).
The burger was juicy and flavorful, and smothered in cheese (which is an add on) a garlic mayo, crispy onions, and pickles. Absolute burger heaven. Fries were EXCELLENT! Drinks were perfect too - and above all the service and attentiveness of Jane was TRULY AMAZING!
A beautiful dining experience overall - and I look forward to going again, very...

To us it felt like a old english bar brought up to date . When you walk in the bar is on the left hand side of the room . The tables and chairs are on the right side of the room . Everything is net and clean . We sat at a corner table . All the chairs are black all the tables are wood just like the floor . We didn't use the rest rooms . Between us we had three Blue Moon beers . And ordered the mac and cheese with bacon mixed in . The mac and cheese was good . But I thought the portion should have been bigger !" There were four friendly waitress taking care of all the tables . One by one they came over asking if everything was alright . Afther we were done with the bar and the mac and cheese . Nobody chased us out . We sat there for a little bit longer and talked . When we did live the manager / owner of the bar . Thanked us for coming in , and to have a nice day . We looked at each other and said that was...
