This location is the women's J. Crew store, which is across the street from the mens' side. I've been to both only once, and what a stark contrast. The men's side had impeccable service. The women's side, not so much. I came in here with my girlfriend to try on some items. She tried on a sweater that we liked, and I asked a worker, some white, middle-aged slender blonde, if the sweater was included in the store sale. She said yes, and we moved on.
Later, I was carrying around a coat that my girlfriend wanted to try on when I noticed a mannequin wearing a vest. I wanted her to try the vest on, but couldn't find it anywhere, so I asked the same worker. Instead of helping me she looks at the coat I'm holding, and says, "Just to make sure, you did see the price on that right?" I look at the tag and it's $1,500. Like ok? And? I ask her again to find me the vest and she does.
She goes to the other side of the store where my girlfriend is and she tells her that she "didn't mean to offend me." Ok, fine. People slip up and say things by accident; obviously she recognized her mistake and "apologized" to my girlfriend instead of me. My girlfriend is insulted but I brush it off, forget it.
But when we're trying the coat on in the dressing room, she decides to come knock on the door of the dressing room and proceeds to tell us, "I just wanted to let you know that that coat is not eligible for the store sale." Like did I ask you? Are you telling me this because I asked if the sweater was on sale? What is wrong with this woman I don't understand. Offends a person once, recognizes it, then doubles down to continue offending them.
Why not 1 star? Because the other workers were...
Read moreVery interesting to see another similar review below. I went to this store today to pick up an online order. As soon as I walked in, a middle aged woman (50s or 60s?) with dirty blonde hair skipped me, and asked if she can help the Caucasian woman behind me after making an eye contact with me. (I'm Asian). The woman behind me and I had walked into the store one by one almost in a single file, so this was odd, and there weren't any other customers. She handed over what appeared to be a pre-ordered something to the woman behind me, and after she left, the middle aged employee walked off to the counter while side eyeing me for a bit, and asked if I want to return something when I only had my tiny purse. Isn't "how can I help you" standard thing to ask? I thought the whole experience was really bizarre and off. And uh.. prejudiced probably? Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the young woman that helped...
Read moreMy girlfriend whom I will be marrying in 3 weeks has been a J.Crew customer for years prior to our relationship. She expresses her love for their products and how well they fit her. I have to admit that she looks good in everything that she wears from them and I have a few outfits that I like to wear from them as well. Their clothing doesn't represent my standard preference, but I...
