Valery Joseph Salon — Local services in New York

I have been going to Valery Joseph for 18 years for my color and my cuts and always get stopped and asked where I l get my hair done. Everyone I have ever sent has become a lifetime fan like myself. Not only is every stylist incredibly talented but everyone is incredibly friendly. I have tried every high end salon in NYC and LA and I don’t think any other compares. Watching Valery cut hair is watching a gifted artist at work but everyone is absolutely amazing! My son and daughter go too for cuts and they are very picky! My mother even goes and the way they have treated her so respectfully is truly heartwarming. The management is so professional and accommodating and patient, they always find a way to fit you in even when they are busy. In all my years I have almost never had to wait. Don’t usually post my salon experiences but thought this needs to be told. Called the salon yesterday at 5:00pm to make blow-out appt for Wednesday and was told salon won’t have water due to problem with bldg. Scheduled appt for Tuesday even though I knew it would rain. Sure enough starting raining and called to reschedule for Thursday of same week and was charged a cancellation of $100 for my rescheduling. I have never experience this type of policy in all of NYC, dentist, doctor, hair salon. They must really be suffering financially!!!! WORST salon experience of my life!!!!! I went for a pretty standard service - highlights and a haircut - and came out with BLACK hair and a burned scalp. My scalp was literally on fire from harsh chemicals being used and left on on my scalp for too long. My hair looks awful and after spending over $1,000 ($500 for the highlights, $325 for haircut + tips) I’m left with a disaster that needs to be corrected and a burned scalp. I’m in utter disbelief that a “high-end” salon could do this.
