Update to my previous review:

Recently I went back to Jangmi for a ring resizing. The ring had fit perfectly when I received it in February, but with the onset of summer weather my finger swelled up a lot until I could no longer fit the ring past my knuckle. Mr. and Mrs. Kim and all their staff actually remembered me and gave me a warm welcome. Mrs. Kim was dismayed to see how much my knuckle had swollen and kindly offered to resize the ring at no charge. Apparently my knuckle had swelled up one whole size! Mrs. Kim said they can also add in a small bar to help prevent the ring from spinning at the base of the finger. I was told the ring would be ready in a week so now I am awaiting the result. Just as before, everyone at Jangmi made me feel very comfortable. Mrs. Kim even asked about details of the proposal and was happy on my account. I feel that everyone at Jangmi has personal interest in their customers, they made me feel like I was being taken care of. Their customer service is excellent. Thanks so much Mr. and Mrs. Kim and everyone else at Jangmi!

The stellar experience that my fiancé and I had with Jangmi compels me to contribute our review here as well with the highest recommendations.

We did some online research on diamond grading and pricing to prepare beforehand. After disappointing visits to Tiffany and Cartier, we found Jangmi through Yelp. We saw the hundreds of five-star reviews and decided to give it a try. We were wary of visiting the diamond district at first, having read about the skullduggery that can go on there, but when we approached Jangmi all the staff behind the counter greeted us with a warm welcome. Mrs. Kim herself patiently spent the time to teach us about diamonds and showed us several stones and their "hearts and arrows" patterns under the microscope and loupe. My fiancé and I are very picky and had exacting demands, since an engagement ring is such a big investment and we wanted to make sure every aspect was satisfactory. I myself was very anxious about the whole process and lost sleep as a result. My fiancé and I made multiple visits to Jangmi, had a lot of second thoughts, and checked out a couple other places. But we saw that the quality of diamonds at Jangmi as well as pricing for quality were unmatched. Also, everyone at Jangmi was very patient and understanding, listened to all our demands, and never pressured us. It is apparent that they run their business based on trusting and personal relations with their customers. One time they even stayed half an hour after closing time to finish a session with us. Mrs. Kim especially went above and beyond to reassure us and ensure that every step of the way went smoothly, and also worked with our budget. Our ring turned out stunning and elegant, more beautiful than my fiancé and I expected, and fits every requirement we were looking for in our ring. We are already recommending Jangmi to our friends and acquaintances. Thank you so much Jangmi, and our deepest appreciation to Mr. and Mrs....

My engagement ring and our wedding bands are all from Jangmi, and we truly could not be more thrilled with the rings and with the adorable Kim family and their staff.

After getting engaged, our first and only stop was Jangmi - after reading so many great reviews on Yelp, and especially all of the praise for Mr. and Mrs. Kim and their team, I was curious to see if they lived up to the hype. In a nutshell - absolutely!

When we first approached their booth, Mrs. Kim gave us a crash course on selecting the right diamond (we both had some limited understanding of the 4Cs). She explained how compromising on color while focusing on higher clarity and cut would get us the most bang for our budget. Rae, one of their employees, assisted us with choosing between stones and picking the setting. I had some photos of ring styles I liked, and I told Rae that I was looking for something simple, but with some vintage-style details. She showed us a beautiful setting with millegrain and tiny stones on the side of the ring that was perfect.

The Kims are wonderful when it comes to working with your budget, no matter how small or large. We told them how much we were looking to spend, and not once did they pressure us to spend more. In fact, while I was deciding between rose gold (my first choice, albeit a less expensive metal) and platinum for the setting, they encouraged me to go with the rose gold based on my style, lifestyle (lots of cooking and working out), and skin tone. They could have easily pushed us to buy the pricier platinum setting, which was $1000 more, but it was clear that their main concern was that we were happy with our choice.

They quoted us a turnaround time of 2 weeks, but after one week, we started to get antsy. I had read about how great they are about accommodating shorter times on Yelp, so my fiance called and asked if it was possible to pick up the ring earlier. They told him that it would definitely be ready one day early, and possibly two days early, but that they would call him to confirm. Like clockwork, two days before the scheduled pickup date, they called him and said the ring was ready!

When we arrived, we were greeted warmly. Rae brought out the ring, and Mrs. Kim made me close my eyes (again, so adorable) so that my fiance could give me the ring. It truly felt like we were surrounded by family, because everyone was so excited to see our reaction. Rae magnified the GIA number so that we could confirm it was the stone we purchased, provided us with the appraisal and GIA certificate, and we were happily on our way.

Since picking up our engagement ring, we have returned several times for cleaning/polishing, as well as to pick out our wedding bands. We are always greeted with a smile and immediate recognition. I can't recommend Jangmi enough if you are shopping for an engagement ring or really any diamond jewelry. Their customer service is unparalleled, they are budget-conscious, and the quality is high. You can't ask for anything...

Between picking out the ring and figuring out how to pop the question, proposing to my now fiancée may be the most difficult thing I have ever done in my entire life. And I literally couldn’t have done it without the incredible help of Sue and the entire Jangmi team who helped me to find the perfect ring. They are quite possibly the only ones in all of the diamond district who would have put up with my craziness.

In my quest to find the perfect ring, I spoke with just about every friend of mine that had already been happily engaged/married to get all the pro tips. I spent weeks researching the 4 Cs and literally interviewed all of my fiancées friends and family like a crazed investigative reporter to try to get every hint of what my future bride to be wanted in a ring (to my detriment, I failed to glean just about any of that information myself). As I’m the type of person who needs to see all my options, before going to Jangmi I went to Tiffany’s, I spoke with a friend’s father who is a jeweler, I had a virtual appointment with Blue Nile, and went to a few other shops in the diamond district. And after seeing the competition, Jangmi came out on top.

I went to Jangmi because they were the most highly rated jewelry shop in all of the diamond district and let me tell you, the reviews did not let me down. The diamond district is sadly a pretty run down place, but Jangmi is in the nicest building on the street by far. They had the largest selection of diamonds out of any of the other shops I went to, and to my great surprise, their prices are very competitive with what I saw online. Their customer service is second to none – I probably went to their shop about a half dozen times agonizing between the different diamonds and bands and asked them about 64 thousand questions after all was said and done. Most importantly, they earned my trust and acted as my advocate by providing perspective on what the current trends are, what styles have stood the test of time, what a good size diamond is, what factors are the most important for a diamond (pro-tip, cut is everything), and they worked within my budget to translate what was in my mind’s eye into the perfect ring. They even wrote down the specific diamonds I was looking at and the price so I could think it over and come back another time.

Additionally, I’m happy to report that after having already made the sale, Jangmi continued to provided the same top notch customer service I had come to expect when we had to go back in to adjust the ring size. I also can’t complain about the half-crazed look my fiancée gets when looking at her ring – very reminiscent of the scene from Aladdin where Abu is staring at the giant ruby in the desert cave.

In short, Jangmi represents the very best the diamond district has to offer and I was incredibly lucky to find them. My fiancée and I could not be happier with our experience...
