At first it was cool with the deals and staff mostly nice when I just started shopping there, but I really disliked the mostly expiring produce so I don’t go here often, and then they’re always closing early. For me, a supermarket should be opened by at least 10:30/11pm because it’s supposed to be for the people. No matter which day of the week.
My whole thing about the closing is that they should have locked the front door to stop us from coming in. The staff was locking down the shutters for the meat section and I asked if it was okay to take up bacon and he said yes no problem. Not even 3 minutes and I’m turning the corner to cash out and the cashier told me the registers are closed. These people saw me when I came in, I didn’t hear any announcements until it was for turning off the lights. The cashier told they been making announcements, so they were probably made way before I went in.They should have someone stop me at the door or locked the door so people would know.
Where I’m from in the Caribbean, standard business protocol is the registers don’t close until the customers inside right before closing time are cashed out. And it’s New York of all places this business behavior should be used as well. I’ll just stick to elsewhere, it’s a hassle to go further but it’s better than buying not so fresh food and lacking basic...
Read moreSome of the workers have no respect to customers at the key food supermarket at 171-11 linden boulevard, I was shocked one night when one of the spanish worker attacked a nurse who was shopping there, it wasn't even 10:pm yet, she was approaching the cash register to cash her groceries and he started arguing with her, why you always come in the night, come on, other customers were in the supermarket, why attacked the poor lady, these nurses worked so hard especially in the pandemic, she was telling him she's sorry and she had to worked long hours, she shouldn't explained nothing to him, it wasn't yet time to close. The workers should appreciated returning customers than attacking them. The old man even go as far as telling her he have his wife and children to go home to. That's not the customers problem, he should stayed home with his families then, we all have families, but we got to work. I thought key food supermarket open till 10:pm for people who get off work late, but no, they rather to cursed out their returning customers. SHAME ON KEY FOOD SUPERMARKET ON 171-11 LINDEN BLVD. NO RESPECT...
Read moreI recently purchased the chocolate chip cookie dough from this supermarket on Saturday, March 1st. After following the baking instructions, I realized on Sunday afternoon that the product had expired on February 26th. I went to the store on Monday, March 3rd, with the receipt and the empty product bag to inform the manager working the night shift. However, when I showed him the expiration date, he simply said, "I can't do anything about it when the bag is already empty."
While I understand that, as a customer, I should have checked the expiration date before purchasing, I believe that it is also the responsibility of the store to properly monitor their product's expiration dates. Unfortunately, I was not offered any credit or refund for the expired product, which left me feeling quite disappointed. I hope the store will improve its product checks and customer service...
