Just like all of my other reviews, I’ll be honest. My honey and I went out and chose this spot. Thought it would’ve been a smooth spot to sit and enjoy some food and relax….
Okay. First walked past and seen motorcycles sitting out in front of the restaurant, didn’t expect to walk in hearing yelling a just a bag ah noise! There were a bunch of men at the bar having a debate about whatever… okay whatever. We stand there waiting for someone to service or help us. Nothing. We had to go find his ass sitting at the bar on his phone. Then he says just sit anywhere someone will come 😒 we go and sit at any table. He brings menus and he’s chewing a straw…. Now I’m getting irritated. Then he walks off. Comes back 5 minutes later and just eyeballs us. No greeting nothing. I ask what type of drinks they have that are non-alcoholic (I don’t drink), he points to the menu and I said “no alcohol”… mumbles pineapple ginger and fruit punch. I just order my food one time and so did my honey. We ordered. 20 mins later the food comes out. We didn’t see this waiter til we were done. No napkins, didn’t ask if we needed anything… nothing. Come back where we’re almost done then we get napkins and new drinks since the pineapple ginger just wasn’t good at all. They NEED to work on their hospitality and customer service. The extra activities, would’ve been nice if they had a back outting area for that. It kills the vibe for people eating and trying to enjoy the moment. One thing though, the chef did his thing!! The food was GREAT!! Then when it was time to pay, dude never came back. We put the money on the table and as we were walking out he yells out “YOW” 🤨 If he had just gave proper service, he would’ve gotten it in his hand and not on the table. I wouldn’t come back again. Some West Indian businesses you really try to support but their service always suck!!! Especially for the price… yall have to do better than this. For real! Like if we’re begging for free food. No thanks. Could find great food and better...
Read moreIf I could give this restaurant zero stars I would hence the 1 star. This place is a roadhouse mess. Let's address the mixture of loud music & loud people.. You cannot enjoy the music because it was so much chaos & confusion..Nobody can hear each other, not even the server could hear. I went there on a Saturday with my girlfriends & we should have left after we stepped in but we wanted to give this place a chance. First off there was 1 server a young boy, who was polite but we could tell he was a novice. He took our orders but couldn't tell us nothing about the food & main dishes or favorite dishes. For appetizer I order the shrimp tacos big mistake. There was no shrimp in the tacos & the lettuce was sagging & it looks like someone just dump a heap of cheese on top. I got no sauce it was just pathetic. My other girl order salmon bites that was worse. It was so rubbery, it was like chew gum. One of my girls order Escovitch snapper as an Entrée and got Escovitch sliced king fish. After we were told by our server that it was snapper. After seeing that we didn't continue with the remainder of the entrée orders. Not to mention the poor wine box drinks we got. It was so bad we didn't eat the food. We left everything paid our bill and decided not to return to Wild Onion. We even left a tip for the young boy as he was trying his best. Please get it together you are bringing down our...
Read moreMay I start off by saying that pre-pandemic Wild Onion was THE place to go for some delicious eats. This place was 1 of 3 eateries I would would recommend to family & friends. Any Rasta pasta was delish, peas and rice authentic, Run down devine and a good portion, oxtail not fatty and tender. In the midst of the pandemic it was in the decline but we understood. Today, 3/7/22 highly disappointing & upset. I’m in disbelief & I repeat can not believe this is the same restaurant that I’d frequent at roughly twice a week. Today I ordered Rasta pasta(basically spicy Alfredo sauce w/okra?) where was my jerk seasoning, bell peppers, thyme and pimentos, Red Snapper Run Down not terrible but not as flavorful as I’m use to w/peas and rice(barely any favor), cabbage & hard plantains? (why), fried bread fruit(no flavor, hard& dry) Jerk chicken was good, Brown Stew Chicken good. It is extremely obvious that this once upon a time restaurant needs a back to basics revamp on there food. As difficult as this review is though I want, desire & believe in supporting my local restaurant you just must do better. Make some significant...
