Golf course is nice but I have a huge complaint about how my family and I were treated on this trip, on the day of my Birthday. After arriving early for our Reserved Tee time, we were continuously rushed, even though we were early and it wasn’t our time to hit the course yet. Once it was our time to hit the course, an employee (who checked us in) demanded that a group (who was late for their reserved time) go before us because their reserved time was before ours. We did not want to make big of the situation so we let it go. Then one it was our turn, in the middle of our hits off the tee, the same employee (who checked us in) continued to rush us along while we were hitting stating “We have to move it along because there are other people who actually know how to play this game that need to go”. My family are proud Puertoricans (light and dark) and were the only group that was given this treatment. Every other group before and after us were given their space and time to Tee up and play their game. This experience started off feeling discriminated by this employee (who checked us in) and his colleagues who stood around and agreed with him. After explaining to the employee that his behavior and the treatment he gave us was uncalled for as my Family and I watch golf and actually play it for fun, but apparently we did not look the part to this employee. After that discussion we continued throughout the course and had a good time, trying to shake off that very unwelcoming start. I will never come here again and wouldn’t recommend it to any of my family and peers as we are all...
Read moreGreat experience here at Fresh Meadows for me and have returned on other occasions. Played on a Saturday at 9:00 in the morning on August 31, 2024. I found that the flow of the course moved well. It was when we were at par 3 holes that there was a slow down to wait for the group ahead to do the entire hole. 4.5 hours in total for 18 holes.
The grass was moist and maintained well on the fairways. The new looking Yamaha golf carts were nice to drive as well. The tee boxes had lots of divots on certain holes. The Putting Greens were nice and slick. However the fringe had a small stray weeds, but it did not hinder performance for me. The sand traps were maintained well too.
I also got to see a nice Red Fox twice on the course! Also known as “Vulpes Vulpes” according to the NYC Wildlife website. I assume that they don’t frequently come out since on another occasion I did not see any and felt safe with the animal passing by the last tee box this time. I recommend making a visit, was an enjoyable and unique experience here at Kissena Park...
Read moreUsually friendly staff giving good service. Today our foursome had an 8 am tee time. The starter played a group of 5 in front of us. It turned into a group of 6. On the 18th tee the sprinklers went full blast and soaked me and my clubs. It was a 90+ degree day. When I went to office to complain, it was told to me the sprinklers are on a timer with no sensors to indicate someone is playing there. Was told that it was a foursome and then a single so the starter didn’t want the single to be lonely. I tried to explain that a group of six makes you wait at every hole but he didn’t want to hear that and started throwing a fit. His manager was there and she barely said anything other than saying she would relay the sprinkler situation to the superintendent. When I raised my voice back to the starter who was yelling at me he told me to leave. No apologies about the group of six nor for my being soaked. I wonder what his max size for a group playing golf is. Obviously not 4 as on every other golf course I...
