For ten years my wife had been complaining about my hearing and that I should have it checked. I always argued that the problem was her soft voice and lack of enunciation. I finally decided to accept Miracle Ear’s free hearing evaluation and $50 Amazon gift card offer.

Early in my career, I was actively involved in the pro sound industry. Upon arrival at Miracle Ear, the receptionist warmly greeted me and my wife. She kindly asked me to complete a questionnaire to help assess my hearing concerns. Upon completion of the forms, I met O'Brian Franklyn, a certified hearing instrument technician. He carefully reviewed the completed questionnaire and asked a few follow up questions. He also examined my ears for ear wax obstruction, which he determined was not an issue.

The next step was a series of audio tests conducted in an anechoic room with acoustic headphones and conductive audio device to measure hearing loss. I was also asked to repeat words I heard to determine if I could correctly identify word sounds. He later conducted a similar word identification test in the open office along with background noise. I correctly identified nine out ten words in the anechoic room, but the number dropped to seven out of ten in the open room with background noise. It was clear at this point that I needed a hearing aid and time to apologize to my wife for repeating herself for over ten years.

O'Brian then fitted me with a pair of hearing aids programmed to my specific hearing deficit, and I was I was again evaluated for word identification. This time I scored nine out of ten words. I was able to secure financing for the hearing aid at a rate that my wallet could live with. The whole process took about 90 minutes.

Although I preferred the original location at the Atlas Mall, this one further into the mall is okay (hence 4 stars). I used to bring my mom here all the time until recently since she has great difficulty getting I to and out of cars.
