Fraud! Sucks! Complete disrespect for customers! “Business in Russian” - they don’t value their clients at all, they don’t care about people! I bought low-quality buckwheat on January 31, 2024 in this particular store. I came to them a week later with a check - February 7, 2024 (before, I couldn’t even do it in principle, since I don’t live in NYC). As a result, I spent an hour and a half (1.5 hours) in the store, these unfortunate managers, clerks and mongrels were deliberately stalling for time! They showed their true colors - this is the lack of any respect for their regular customers. Immediately from the 2nd floor some “child” named Igor came out (that’s what they told me), he tried to convince me that I was wrong. In front of him was a girl who was introduced to me as the manager when I entered the store and immediately applied. Then a brunette woman came out and told me that they have a strict pyramid. This third person, named Victoria (I was informed in customer service), flatly refused to exchange the low-quality product for me. Moreover, I didn’t even ask to return my money for this buckwheat, but just to exchange it for the same buckwheat, only from a different manufacturer. She argued with me, tried to prove to me that I was wrong and that in general I was to blame for this situation! As a result, this child guy came up to me when I was choosing buckwheat and said: “take this one, it’s more expensive and the pack is larger, it’s good, but we’ll give you the same price.” As a result, THIS IGOR DECEIVED me, at the checkout he punched me with this big buckwheat in the check, and took away my old one, and I had to PAY EXTRA! I also had dumplings with me, the berries inside were rotten and so I also wanted to exchange them for others. I bought the dumplings a little earlier than the buckwheat, but these unfortunate managers completely refused to change the dumplings for me, but they said that I needed to call customer service and they would solve everything. They explained this by saying that I brought it to them defrosted, but alas... I don’t have a refrigerator in my car :( In the end, I left them these dumplings, but they didn’t return the money to me, and no one replaced them for me! That is, my money for a bad product remained in this store! As a result, after my communication with customer service on February 7, 2024, they called me back only on February 9, 2024 and said that no one would change anything or return anything. The essence of this fable is that these people and this business regretted a penny, decided to save $5, but lose a regular customer! I've shopped at this store every week, once a week for the past couple of years. In general, I have been a client of this store for 6-7 years. And I spent $150-200 here periodically..! That’s it, I’m not your client anymore. We have enough decent grocery stores where there is no such s.. and where they change goods, where there is fairness and respect and loyalty to...
Read moreWhen our visiting the one at 3100 Ocean Ave showed the amazing glitz and perfect best supermarket in the world was under renovation into an even shinier more amazing Gourmanoff (Net Cost's top tier of market and service to guests) Market, I was both excited at the possibility of an even better market there but then turned my attention to this backup market whose cafe, Gourmanoff Bakery, I've visited 3x before, so I was very excited to now visit the parent, especially as I've had an anxious day which beer, bread, and cheese will always resolve.
This market review could span many pages and so I will try as much as stamina permits. First, the entrance, it seems like some small sketchy blase market from the doors, the normal lookijng entry opens up into a perfectly decorated vast produce space with custom fonts on all the tons of artwork akin to a Trader Joe's or Wegmans. Such a happy brightly lit scene on a quiet residential street! Walk forward thru the store width then turn left to see the smorgasbord of Russian food for which NetCost is so well known, even in these smaller locations of theirs, with the hot buffet and prepared foods on left, tonnes of dairy ahead of that, and vast central dry goods section. You can take a veritable tour of the Russian federation and friends just by browsing. Service seemed friendly from the few interactions I had with sample tables and stocking people to ask locations. The bakery section in the front near the checkout was Russian-only speaking which is fine as labelling and signage are plentiful. TVs overhead have a rotating slideshow of local Russian businesses' ads and store specials, albeit all in Russian. Overall, just a thrilling supermarket which serves your daily needs to not-so-daily wants.
Not 5 star only because the produce prices are not great value (speaking biased since namely Chinese grocers' produce which is low presentation but high value) BUT the quality is vastly...
Read moreIf you are ever in a mood to see a few Russians duke it out, this is the place to be. Come here on the weekend or before a major holiday and you will be transported to the Leninesque bread and food lines of communist Russia! First the positive. The food is abundant, the food is made in house and if you are into Russian cuisine or miss your mama's Kotleta this is the place to go. The produce is always reasonably priced and fresh, the deli and cheese counters are always well stocked and all manner of variety is readily available. There are rows and rows of Russian delicacies, frozen goods, candies, sweets, teas and drinks. All manner of dried and smoked fish and caviar and even a not to bad sushi area. The bad....what can I say, I don't think they are super stars when it comes to customer service. I have been yelled at and scolded several times by the angry lady handling the hot soups and prepped food. When I go there I actively avoid her. The deli counter and pastry counter folk are chronically annoyed and always rushing you even when there isn't a horde of people behind you. I also particularly enjoy when you stand there and wait and wait and wait as the workers discuss their drama. I once asked what kind of bread something was and got a "lady how the hell should I know". If insults and scolding run of your back then go here for good russian fair. But if you a re bit sensitive (like me) and dont enjoy being yelled at try to avoid it during peak...
