We hired Bassett to cater our wedding in November 2024. Inspired by the unbelievable reviews I had read online, I decided to give them a call one year before our event, thinking that they could not possibly be as good as advertised.
From the first conversation with Frank, we knew we had found the right fit. He was so warm and genuinely happy to be part of the planning for our event. He was conscious of our budget and transparent about his pricing (which is extremely reasonable) from the very beginning.
Frank was a joy to work with. Basset’s decades of experience shined through. He gave us plenty of advice to ensure that the event would run perfectly, but he was not set in his own ways—he did everything he could to bring our ideas to life. We went back and forth several times to set our tables in a way that we wanted and yet worked for his service; we changed the typical order of food; and we even made specialty cocktails. He was very open to all of these decisions.
On the day of the wedding, Frank and his team executed to perfection. When our guests (150) entered the venue, they were greeted with an abundance of delicious appetizers from the very first minute. No one was ever hungry! Dinner, which we chose to serve family style, was also delicious, and many, many of our guests remarked how good the food was. Notwithstanding the guests' late arrival due to traffic, everything was served on time, helping the flow of the evening go perfectly.
We have heard from basically everyone (our wedding coordinator, the venue manager, etc) about how great Frank was to work with. He did all the little things with such generosity, like providing meals for our other vendors, ensuring that food was not wasted after the event, and providing a dessert we requested even though it was not part of his normal offering.
If you are thinking of hiring Frank and Bassett for your wedding or other event, do it!...
Read moreBassett’si is a neighborhood staple. My family, not just my immediate family)used Bassett for nearly all catered affairs and parties since I can remember. (1960s) Christenings, communions, confirmations, birthdays, and most recently, a wedding. Heck, Bassett feels like family to me. Aside from catering, I’m there a few times a month for my lunch or dinner. My favorite is Meatloaf, mashed, and mixed veggies sorry sausage and peppers. They have different food items on different days, but meatloaf is an everyday item. I must have had everything over the years, never had a bad or so-so experience. Every time I go I can’t pass up a container of cut up provolone. There was a fire a few years back and were closed for a while. I didn’t think they were going to reopen, but they did and I swear I was excited to see that. The workers are friendly, the service is great, the food is awesome, and the prices are reasonable. You can get a complete dinner for $12 with oversized portions. I highly recommend Bassett’s for catering, lunch, dinner, or cold cuts. The only thing I don’t like is they close at 5pm. Before the fire it was 6pm, now I have to rush after work to get my meatloaf/mashed/mixed dinner, and...
Read moreBassett catered our wedding and they exceeded our expectations. First of all the food was delicious and the variety was impressive. We chose their stations menu, along with passed appetizers and dessert and our guests raved about how great the food was. I've heard horror stories about wedding vendors, but Frank was responsive, clear, and helpful at every step from planning to tasting to payment. His on site staff were organized, polite, and attentive, checking in periodically throughout the night to make sure we were happy. And the prices were reasonable. The only thing I would say is that if you hire their bartenders and bring your own alcohol, stick to beer and wine. They made my dad a very strange martini that we all had a good laugh over, but if you have guests who are particular about this, best to stick with beer and wine or hire your own bartender. I highly recommend these folks for a stress free and highly...
