Phở Hoài 牛肉河粉 — Restaurant in New York

This was my 3rd time visiting this restaurant. It came recommended from good friends. I enjoyed the pho and other soups as well and the summer shrimp roll. I was looking forward to enjoying today's meal. They did not disappoint when it came to the food, however by the time I walked out of the restaurant I wished I never came. I paid the bill with my credit card and gave our waiter the tip in cash. I had some leftovers in bags to take home and I also ordered a beef pho to take home to my daughter. As we sat getting ready to leave, one of the servers kept walking by and looking at the table. My husband then told her he left a tip already. She continued to walk by and he told her again he left a tip. This time he told her who he left the tip in cash with. She said "Oh. Ok." and kept walking. He then called our waiter over and told him what happened. The waiter seemed embarrassed and told us not to worry about her. As we were leaving, another server asked my husband if he left a tip. He laughed in surprise and told her we did. She then asked how much. With that he told her 1 million dollars and we walked out. After stewing in the car at the level of treatment we received, my husband went back in and told them he didn't appreciate how we were treated and that we would not be coming back. They apologized but it didn't make me feel any better. I was told by one of the servers that they have done thia before and actually walked out after customers to ask for tips. I have never eaten there and not left a tip and today wasn't any different. I am disappointed in this restaurant's treatment of a returning customer. Although the food is delicious I will not...

Unfortunately, I moved from the area, and I will really really miss this spot. Everything I’ve ever ordered from here was delicious!

If you love curry the Banh Mi Ca Riga (chicken coconut curry sandwich) is exceptional. It’s a rich chicken coconut curry, full of flavor and comfort.

The Pho Bo Kho Pho (beef stew) is absolutely amazing, it has a slight anise taste? And the meat is cooked so perfectly it’ll melt in your mouth. It’s cooked with the tendon which has a very fun texture. Another stand out and very comforting dish.

If you’re in the mood for a light soup Canh Do Bien (seafood soup) is very simple and light, but has plenty of umami flavor, so it doesn’t taste plain. The Canh Chua Tom (sweet and sour shrimp soup) is another amazing choice of soup here - very bright & tangy.

Anything with their BBQ pork whether it’s the spring rolls, Banh Mi or served on noodles/rice, I have never found a fault. The meat is thin, tender and has lots of sweet and smokey flavor.

The fried squid was not my favorite, it wasn’t as crispy as I would have liked (granted it was delivery!), but the curry squid (I believe it was called Muc Xao Thap Cam) was amazinggg.

I also had the sweet and sour shrimp, which was good, but in my opinion compared to all the flavorful dishes you can choose from it was a little basic. If you’re not looking to experiment this is a good choice.

My parents used to bring me here weekly growing up, and their food is always amazing. As the years went on, their service became worse. They always give me the wrong dish, and then blame me for it. What??? I order either the beef cube with rice or xe luo pho every single time, and they always give me something spicy. When I ask nicely to give me what I ordered, they yell at me and told me its my fault. Every time I order doordash, they cancel my order because I use a coupon. Doordash is the one being affected by the coupon, and not the restaurant. I work at a restaurant as well, so I know. I tell them this every time, but all they do is yell at me. Another time, I ordered two different pho noodles, and they only gave me one, blaming me again. I told them to check the receipt and they charged me for two. When they realized they were wrong, they gave me dirty looks and were talking bad about me in Chinese. I’m literally Chinese too, and I replied to them in Chinese and they were shocked. The last few times I’ve ordered, they yell at me and blame me, causing fights to happen. I’ve been a customer here for 10+ years and their service is only getting worse. I still come back and try to order, because the food is amazing, but they really need to work on their management. And to think I ordered here weekly for years and they still treat me...
