Pinkyz Place is a truly special place for our family and I can’t recommend them enough.
Both of our boys, currently 8 and 3, have sensory challenges and haircuts have been particularly tough for my youngest. Our stylist at Pinkyz not only took their behavior in stride, she welcomed us back each time with open arms. I’ll never forget how, after one visit where my three year old was really tough, she invited us to a Halloween event at the shop the next week. They didn’t just treat us respectfully… they embraced us. It was that kindness, which we saw on each visit, that kept us going back.
After we started going to Pinkyz my older son quickly acclimated to haircuts, which never happened at our prior salon, and now he won’t hear of going anywhere else.
On our last visit, my three year old had let us know he wanted to keep his glasses on during the haircut and our stylist was able to do it. For the first time, he didn’t cry. He was so proud of himself. I had never thought I’d see the day when he could handle a haircut without getting upset, but our stylist’s patience and kindness got us there. She was as proud and happy as I was, as she remembered him and knew how far he’d come.
Besides being a safe space for kids (and parents!) of little ones with challenges… the haircuts are also wonderful and the toy selection is really well curated.
They have also renovated their space recently and have a really nice play area to wait in. The space continues to be very quiet and we love that we can schedule appointments online. Perhaps the only problem for us with Pinkyz is that my little guy doesn’t...
Read moreThis place is horrible. We made an appointment for our daughter's haircut. When we arrived they would not even let us in and said we needed a mask when no where it stated a mask is required while making an appointment online or their storefront. So we had to go buy a mask from down the block. When we got back after purchasing a mask the female who cut our daughter's hair had a nasty attitude and did not seem interested at all. In fact, she was on the phone the whole time. We explained to her how we wanted her to cut our daughter's hair (not too short and some definition in the front). She cut it so short and then she asked us "Is it too short?" She's supposed to be a professional and ask us before cutting - not after you cut it too short. We told her it's too short; and she said "I can fix it" when she totally couldn't at that point. We asked her now are you going to glue or staple it back together or something. Furthermore, she stated "I can't cut it if she keeps looking down". You're supposed to be the professional - you're the one who specializes in cutting kids' hair. After all you're the one who got the license/certificate in cutting hair. After she was done, she just left without letting us know she's done and without cleaning our daughter or giving her a blow dry. We had to ask her for the blow dry and after the blow dry she just left our daughter's hair like that - no combing nothing. The haircut from the front is so uneven that you can't tell if it's done by a professional or our 2 year old daughter cut it herself. Would not come back here or recommend this...
Read moreI just want to commend this establishment for an amazing experience from start to finish. I traveled to Brooklyn for a family event and I needed to get my daughter’s hair done for the event and her graduation pictures. She is 5, tender headed and liable to flip out if she see’s a comb. I initially spoke to Patricia who answered all my questions over the phone and I booked the appointment online. Website is very simple. I was traveling over 7hrs so I was hoping not to be late (and I wasn’t) and when I got there Latoya was waiting for us and happy to help. I love that she introduced herself to my daughter and not just me (it didn’t change my daughter’s mind about this whole ordeal though lol). She was very patient and talked her/myself through each step. I know my baby is a handful and she has extremely thick hair. I couldn’t really thank her enough for doing her best with the challenges of temper tantrums and salon fear. The price was more than I was expecting to pay HOWEVER for what my daughter needed done, I anticipated it to break the bank. I will absolutely be returning again when I come back to Brooklyn. I recommend them any children’s services. The patience level...
