I found them last minute when my other appointment cancelled. I had an okay experience here but there were some drawbacks for me.
Pros- All the ladies were very polite. I called in advance. They were very accommodating. There wasn't a long wait to be seen and the woman who braided my hair was really nice.
Cons- It was a thousand degrees in there. No AC. It was hotter in the shop than outside. While they had fans, it was extremely hard to bare, especially sitting in a leather seat, for 4 hours.
The price. Much like many other shops, they withheld the price from me when I asked initially and waited until my hair was done to tell me. In my opinion, while the style was cute, it was very overpriced. $180 for lemonade braids? Especially when I know most people pay the same amount for knotless? Doesn't sit well with my spirit. I could've haggled but I didn't have the energy, but it definitely rubbed me the wrong way. That could be on me for being nice and friendly so maybe they thought I was a sucker lol. Being rude just isn't in my ministry (shrugs).
This review isn't to say don't go to them. I'm all for us making our coins. Just my experience. If they are more transparent about price upfront and improve the air conditions, they should be straight.
Posted a video. Don't judge my filter lol. Hope...
Read moreIn all honesty, coming here is a hit or miss. Found Kande’s braiding shop through TikTok and have been here at least four times. If you’re someone who honors good customer service, reliability, professionalism, time management, cleanliness and longevity of the style you’re paying for, Do not come here. From my own personal experience I was told my hair “ is not easy to deal with “ as an African American woman with 4B hair that is not something you’d want to hear from your “stylist” please be trained and educated on how to work with ALL hair types not just relaxed hair. While also getting my hair done another individual felt uneasy about the stylist not wanting to part her hair in the middle and gave her the comb for her to do it herself, this just showed a lack of effort, team work and overall willingness to get the job done. As someone who has more than eight years experience working in the cosmetic and retail environment from what I’ve observed while sitting in the chair for 9 hours was unacceptable. There was no structure built around meal times, accepting walk ins/appointments, being knowledgeable on different hair types, cosmetology safety precautions and just overall integrity. Now I’m stuck with a hairstyle that’s look half done before my birthday. Will not...
