Shop Fair of Wavecrest — Local services in New York

This supermarket is getting out of control when dealing with checking in your bag. I had my backpack on my back and I had a shopping bag with items inside. I check in the shopping bag with the man at the counter. But as soon as I went to pick up a basket to shop the guy said miss,miss you have to leave your backpack 🎒 I said my wallet is inside how am I suppose to shop. He told me to take the wallet out . I said to him I'm going to leave you with my backpack with my ID and personal items inside to remove my wallet to get rob in the store. He said I'm sorry. I said this store was never takin people personal belongings before and I said furthermore you are not watching 😒 it. He just look at me. I have been coming to this supermarket for a long time. So now they are taking your purse and backpack or you can't shop in the store. Mine you I said to the guy this backpack is my purse he said he need to take it. I said, "That's ok. I will leave." My backpack was so filled with my stuff it would be hard for me to steal anything. Becareful with this supermarket they are takin your backpack and purses and shopping bags from you before you shop 🙄 and they are not...

I stopped off to pick up a few items after work, since I had my work bag with wheels, I figured it would be easier to carry my items home. I placed all of my selections into a carrying basket. The only time I opened my work bag prior to getting to the register was to take out my pocket book. After paying for my items, I placed the heavier items in my work bag and carried the lighter items in my hand. A man came up to me and said, "Let me help you." He took my bag, opened it dumping some of the items into the bag. I was shocked and humiliated. I told him and the manager that I felt disrespected as I came into the store to shop not steal. If this is the assumption that they have towards their customers, I’d rather shop somewhere else.

This store has made it very clear they do not value the community they’re in. I’ve shopped here begrudgingly * since 2017 *. The way they speak to people, the way they treat customers — it’s unacceptable. If you’re going to run a business in a neighborhood, you need to respect the people in it. Until this place has new ownership, new management, and at least 50% new staff, I will never spend another dollar here. Take your money somewhere that actually delivers good service, decent quality, and basic respect.

If you can, find another local store that treats people right and is worth supporting. But if that’s not possible, Amazon Fresh is an optional delivery service. They even have a subscription now where you can pay $9.99 a month or $100 a year and get unlimited free deliveries, as long as each order is $35 or more.
