Roaches. Roaches. Roaches. Mice. And again, roaches. Honestly, the only folks who deserve a good rate is the maintenance team whoâs always there for you if anything happens. I really like that theyâre easily accessible and 24/7 after-hour services have been used by me a few times and they were always prompt and helpful. NOW to the main problem - the filthiness of the building. Not sure if itâs just my building or all of them (and frankly, I donât get the 5 star reviews - you folks probably donât mind living with roaches and totally let your kids lick off staphylococcus off the surfaces those same roaches crawl on, UNLESS itâs just an issue in my building and nowhere else but I highly doubt it). Overcrowded buildings, therefore, too much trash that canât fit anywhere anymore, hence more and more compactors are being added, yet it doesnât solve the issue with roaches and mice. Basement in my building stinks of trash. Some folks smoke in the building (common area) but nobody says a thing to them. Some steal packages (I was a victim of theft myself as well as some other fellow tenants) but nobody slaps their hand for that. I donât get why itâs so difficult (or maybe expensive?) to install a camera in the lobby area where majority of mail is being dropped off. On the outside the area looks neat and well taken care of (again, thanks to the maintenance team) but on the inside itâs just pure infestation. I found a roach on the 1st day I moved in and since then things have been only getting worse. Extermination services didnât help much, because there are so many of them all over the place, itâs just pointless. They spray and put poison plus traps everywhere. Iâve so much of that poison gel in my kitchen cabinets and dozens of roaches glued to the glue traps, itâs insane. Yet, itâs not getting any better. The path to the elevator alone on my floor is a roach cemetery. Itâs not just my apartment, you can see them all over the common area. Honestly, Iâm disgusted. You need to doublecheck your occupancy and make sure it doesnât exceed the allowed amount of people and do some thorough extermination treatments in EVERY apartment. Only then there will be less trash...
Read moreWe have been living in Shore Haven Apartments for close to 15 years now. It was just like any other run of the mill NYC apartment complex back in 2010's--bland, boring and just plainly âexistingâ. Starting somewhere around 2019ish--with the arrival of the new manager Harry Deutsch, everything changed. Major upgrades and serious renovations were undertaken that culminated in beautiful little gardens you see on every corner welcoming you to the Shore Haven apartments. Lawns are mowed every week. The pathways around the buildings are kept extremely clean and neat. On garbage collection days, all thrash bags are stored inside visually pleasing cabins especially built for keeping the thrash away from the streets. Parking spaces are kept clean. They have upgraded and installed the new latest faster elevators inside our building. In addition, the inside lobbies of the buildings and the stairs are mopped daily. I love the addition of the big bold illuminated building numbers making it easy for friends and food delivery people to find our building at night. Before the illuminated signs, our UberEATS guy would go in circles around the entire complex before finding our building lol. In summer, before the start of the school year, the management has an annual fair for the kids where they giveaway free school supplies and stationeryâwhich I think is awesome. On the maintenance side, if anything breaks in the apartment or leaks, the repair guys are sent asap usually within 30 minutes or so, that was not the case pre-Harry. I am assuming there are probably 25 buildings each with under Harryâs management at Shore Haven but the level of dedication, care and empathy he has for tenants is remarkable. The previous manager before Harry wonât be missed...
Read moreI was most pleased to live at the Shore Haven Apartments. Coming home to a well manicured lawn on a tree lined block is quite inviting. The maintenance department was quite attentive, and fixed any repairs reported in a timely fashion. The buildings all have brand new elevators, that make maneuvering with my groceries or laundry an ease. The laundry room is located on the lower level, that makes laundry simple. Not to mention the machines are app friendly, and can be started right from your smartphone. The grounds are patrolled by security on evenings. This is definitely a family friendly neighborhood, where I feel safe. By bedroom had a beautiful view of the Bensonhurst Park. Thatâs right across the street, and we are walking distance to the mall that has Target, BJs, fitness center and shopping stores. As well as 86th Street main Avenue with many of stores and the D train (that gets you into the city on the express line). Many spring, summer and fall evenings I went for a jog along the ocean that has a walking and biking path that wraps around South Brooklyn by the Belt Parkway. The sun always sets in our neighborhood, and Iâve seen many beautiful sunsets. Yes, parking can be a challenge if you get in late in the evening, but the neighborhood is absolutely worth it. And if you donât mind a short walk to your front door then this is the community for you. Yes, the building does have a parking lot, but it comes with a fee of course. One more thing, I loved the high ceilings and large windows. It lets in so much sunlight. Shore Haven is nestled at the edge of Brooklyn, with nothing obstructing the view. So my apartment was well lit by the sun for the...
