Since I live in the Bath Beach community, I have passed by this cafe many times by car, but I never went in (maybe too close to home?). I finally visited it with my daughter today and I was very impressed with my experience. One thing you need to know about me is that I love a good cup of coffee and I love to visit mom and pop cafes wherever I travel. This is one of those mom and pops that serve a good cup of coffee, so I'm already hooked. Upon entering, the place is decorated with a lot of wood and bricks, which give it a warm and inviting feeling. Since the owners are Egyptian, the walls were decorated with thoughtful photos and maps that represent Egyptian culture. I admire people who are proud of where they come from and represent their culture through their business like the owners of this cafe do. The beauty of America is how we can enjoy all the special privileges of our society while also paying homage to the cultures that we grew up in. There are several small tables with chairs, enough seating for 10 people. Each table is good for only two people, so bringing a large group here is not recommended unless they all want to sit separately. This place has a food menu with several different sandwiches and toasts. The tuna sandwich that I ordered and the avocado toast that my daughter ordered were both delicious. This cafe also offers fresh juices and smoothies as well as various pastries and cake slices. What was most unique about this location was that there is a pharmacy in the back of the cafe that can be entered through a separate glass door. The pharmacy was well-lit and organized and run by the two owners of the cafe. While I don't often visit pharmacies, I look forward to visiting the cafe again in the near future. In a land full of Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts, I am glad that this cafe exists within walking distance of my home. Many businesses along the Bath Avenue corridor are poorly presented and bring down the look of my neighborhood. The well-maintained Cafe Cairo Rx Pharmacy helps make my...
Read moreI was surprised over the star rating. I've been here many times and it's just bad.
I wish I liked this place because I've gone to it many times (on my commute) but no ...... it's really bad. My friend also lives nearby but warned me too late that this place wasn't good.
I'm not exaggerating: The nutella latte tastes like toilet water. I tried to sit down and get some work done and could not stomach this even after an hour and adding loads of stuff to it.
He was like 'how was it?' and i was like 'my bagel was fine but i don't like the latte' and he was just like :/ okay I have also worked as a barista at multiple coffee shops. The expected, customer-service thing to do is offer to remake the drink with potential changes. I don't wanna sound like a jerk but yeah y'know what, I have experience in this industry. It's a jerk move to be like 'okay then throw out your $10 latte'
Also like, I'm convinced the one barista manning the counter at the time hates women (alleged, my opinion??) because every woman that came in he was like passive aggressive with, but every guy it was like 'Hey man what's up' and then he'd go and prioritize their order first.
Also they don't even do the early bird special anymore (small coffee + bagel for $4) and the guy looked at me like I was stupid even though it was literally on the menu.
Friend claims this place has high ratings cus ramadan and anything will taste good after that ... i kinda believe her.
EDIT: He did remake it after an hour and I was like 'bro I can't finish this'. I promised I would update my review, and I'm glad that they didn't right thing by trying to rectify it. I probably won't...
Read moreWalked in to grab a coffee while I was waiting for my laundry, the reviews all said the cafe was really good so I went ahead and tried it. It’s really great!! Honestly a lot of places these days lacking in their coffee making skills. I ordered a large Iced Latte with Hazelnut. The syrup was so good, not thick and stuck in the bottom like a lot of places have, actually had a nice hazelnut flavour. It was light and easy to stir into my coffee, the actual taste of the coffee is also delicious. Strong in the right way, not just strong in strength that makes it thick and bitter. The actual coffee was smooth and bold and a little chocolatey flavour. After tax and Tip my large coffee came out to about 8.50. Not really an every day spot but I’ll probably come back next time I’m doing my laundry because I think that deserves a nice...
