I received a poor impression of the owner of the store 2 days ago on Saturday, June 20th, 2020 at approximately 1:15 PM. I noticed the store was open when I arrived, but the man who behaved like a store owner was blocking the door and began asking me questions outside. I asked the man if he was the owner, he replied, "YES," and proceeded to respond loudly and aggressively in front of the store while he gave unkind comments on my bike. He started off by calling my bike a "piece of a junk," and insulted me by saying, "it's common sense," as an indirect way to insult me, not only my bike, but also my intelligence. I received an overly abrasive response after I questioned him on how he can just say that when I only needed to get my brakes replaced. Henceforth, I did not feel happy after he raised his voice at me in such a condescending manner; this man has a rude demeanor and needs to work on his communication skills. His volume of raising his voice at me was so loud that another customer, a woman 6 yards away heard it and was shocked in disbelief to be hearing such remarks and such impolite demeanor that she also stood there appalled as the owner tried to calm her anxiety down while raising his tone at me. Looking at from a different perspective, I think it's "common sense" not to treat people like a "piece of junk" either; we're the ones who is actually trying to help your business. I felt that he did not see the way I saw it. His views I felt were very inconsiderate and narrow-minded; he was comparing my pedal bicycle to an actual airplane, which was a poor analogy because bikes do not run on gas and turbo engines, and it can't fly either, for this man's information. The reason I came to this store at first was because of the business's ratings, which caught my eye and led me to believe that this store actually had some decent people who were nice, professional, and considerate. But, I was wrong, not when it came to providing high-quality customer service by any means necessary. All in all, this man ruined my overall customer service experience for my first impression. As such, I will not be coming back to this store anymore for any services. I suggest everyone go to another location that treats customers better until the owner can get his act together. However, if you're willing to have you and your bike insulted, then this...
Read moreStaff is unskilled or doesn't try. Looks like a bunch of kids running the shop. I brought my bike in for service and assembly that they were going to charge $70 for, but then refused to do anything once they encountered a problem (was also told that seat posts that would fit my bike does not exist, found one on amazon shortly after). When i went to pick up the bike, they had lost one of my pedals and asked me if i was sure i had two pedals followed by telling me he just didn't have the time to find my pedal after i had to take a day off work to come pick up the bike. When i told them i needed the pedal to bring to a different shop they told me to "just return the bike from who i bought it from because no one will service it because it is not a big brand." I had told them i wouldn't mind buying replacement parts or aftermarket parts if necessary, and they wouldn't even bother to look. Finally, I just brought the bike to a shop in Manhattan and they assessed it and offered to Fix and replace all parts i needed for the price of their $60 tune up. I just moved to Forest Hills since i have a lot of friends here and was hoping to support my local shop but instead i will be telling everyone to avoid this place. Wasted a weekend and a vacation day.
RESPONSE TO OWNER: To Spin City, Any issue with a bike is a safety issue, it is the reason we bring it to the shop. Pausing the service is not telling the customer to "return it to the seller because NO ONE will work on it." I Dropped the bike off on a Sunday, picked it up on Wednesday, you have had at least 3 days with it. I had to resort to telling the seller to call you because you were not willing to service it and the seller found me a...
Read more#stolemymoney THIEVES! I usually don't write reviews but what this guy did to me is absolutely despicable. I asked this guy Jimmy a few questions and he gave me a few prices. We talked about REPLACING(KEY WORD) front brakes and back brakes. He tells me your back brakes work, the only thing is one of the brake pads doesn't contact the wheel fully. He tells me let me grease it up and realign it and maybe that will fix the problem so I said ok.
He starts working on it he just loosens one bolt and puts it back. Then he tells me it didn't fix the pad. So I told him whatever let me get outta here and he tells me that it costs $10. He never said he'd charge me for taking out one bolt.
Then I told him to replace the whole back brake to at least save me my $10 and he tells me it's cost $22 for the actual piece and $12 for installation I told him fine. He works on it for a few minutes then tells me I cant make it as tight as I'd like to because your wheel is supposably bent. I was so upset already I just told him ok.
Next he tells me ohh I'm sorry but the part really costs 25 dollars which brings your total to $37. At that point I just wanted to leave so I gave him my debit card and he asks me for ID because I look young. As if I'm buying drugs, alcohol or lotto tickets. I give him it and finally leave.
DON'T GO TO THIS GUY HE WILL JUST OVERCHARGE AND DO A BAD JOB!!
RESPONSE TO STORE OWNER: I wasn't able to go somewhere else because you locked my bicycle on a bike grip and wouldn't return it until I payed you ten dollars for absolutely nothing. DON'T GO HERE JIMMY IS A...
