I ordered from the one in Kew Gardens and the lady who took my order was rude and I asked to speak to the owner... they lied as they were going to send my order by car due to the distance. I spoke to the owner about the lady who was rude to me...I placed my order at 3:06 pm and didn't get it until 4:20 pm or so. I got a call from a woman identified as the owner of the location in Forest Hills stating the order was on its way. I explained to her I already received it and she asked about what happened, which I explained . The woman said the order came by scooter, she indicated she will communicate to the restaurant owner at Kew Gardens about what happened. As I was eating the yuca hervida it wasn't fully cooked and had a lot of pepper, the half chicken one portion was dry and the other was under cooked. I've been trying to contact the restaurant to inform about the issue with my order , a staff answered and stated the owner isn't available and I asked to speak to another person of authority but I was placed on hold and no one got on the phone. I've attempted several times yesterday to contact the restaurant and the owner and no one has answered. I left a voicemail to the woman I spoke to yesterday.. as I arrived to work the woman who called yesterday is the owners wife to complain at the my job that I've been calling a lot. The reason I've been calling a lot was because no one was answering and I wanted to address the issue with my order to see what can be resolved. Unfortunately nothing was resolved and I won't be ordering from this restaurant again. It's unprofessional how they call my place of employment instead of calling directly my cell phone which I've been calling from. Clearly no customer service was awarded to me regarding the...
Read moreI ordered Take Out from Tu Casa several times in the past month and dined in for Valentine’s Day dinner. The Peruvian menu is extensive and the cost is fairly inexpensive relative to other similar restaurants. For an appetizer we ordered the Colombian sausage and fried plantains (Chorizo Colombiano and Tostones) and it was exceptional. For our main meal we ordered the Steak and Onions (Bistec Encebollado) and the Beef Stew (Carne Guisado) with yellow and white rice respectively. They provided generous portions and the food was absolutely delicious. For dessert we ordered the Flan and it did not disappoint. The Drink menu is limited but for dinner it was fine. We ordered a pitcher of the red Sangria and it was very good. For a busy day with many diners the service was okay. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We requested to move our table and they quickly accommodated us. The atmosphere is nice and they did a great job of decorating for Valentine’s Day. A negative is the location of cashier is in the back of restaurant and there was a constant flow of people and delivery workers walking past tables to pick up their orders. Additionally, they automatically add 20% gratuity to the check. While on this occasion they earned the 20% tip, I believe the level of gratuity should always be left up to the customers (unless it's a table of six or more people). When the server returned with my credit card check it displayed additional suggested tips of 18%, 20% and 25% over the total that already included a 20% gratuity. It’s important to be attentive to avoid unintended over tipping. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience at Tu Casa and highly recommend it. Read moreWhile I was in New York for a couple of days last week, I had dinner with my wife, daughter and son-in-law at Tu Casa. First off, my daughter and son-in-law treated us to dinner, so it was a fine start :-)
I never had Peruvian food before, so it was a new taste sensation for me...a good one! We ordered a few different dishes and shared them. It was a great way to sample the food. We had a mix of chicken, shrimp and pork dishes with white rice, yellow rice and rice with beans...and we had fried sweet plantains (which I have always seen in the supermarket, but never ate before).
EVERYTHING was delicious. The food was piping hot, well seasoned, and plentiful. Not only was the food great, the owner (I assume he was the owner) was so nice and welcoming. When he realized this was a new taste sensation for us, well for my wife and I--my daughter and son have been there quite often in the past--he offered to cook us alternative dishes if we didn't like what we ordered. He truly wanted us to enjoy!
And enjoy we did. The meal was great. We did not to need to take the owner up on his offer of different dishes. And, what was really nice, we felt appreciated as customers. We went out to eat at a different place during our quick NY trip, but the manager of the other place couldn't seem to care whether we were there or not. But at Tu Casa, we felt welcomed. Great food, nice place, lovely atmosphere...can't ask for more. I...
