Previously left a 5-star review, moving it to a 2-star. I usually have a pretty good experience with standard mani/pedi treatments, hence my previous 5-stars. However, this past time I went (just a few minutes ago) I had LaLa as my technician. I am scheduled for a labor induction tonight and wanted to get a spa pedi and standard manicure, no color, just care, cleaning and shaping + 10 minute massage to relax and take my mind off what's coming up.
During my pedicure, LaLa RIPPED off my cuticle, not just once, but twice, and now I have two painfully inflamed toes. This is not proper care, nor is it really safe, as it can lead to infection. She just laughed and kept going, even though I yelped, clearly asked her to stop and was in pain.
For my manicure, it was 5 minutes of care, no cuticle oil or real service provided. She didn't even clean under the nails. Again, very weird, esp considering I wasn't getting any paint. This is standard. Also, no hand massage. Not really sure what I paid for, but at this point I was honestly so annoyed and stressed out I just wanted to go home.
I figured maybe a short massage might help and redeem the situation. Then, chair massage is $15 for 10 minutes and all she did was rub my neck with one lazy hand. No back pressure at all. And I specifically asked her not to pound/hit me, as often salons will do in the end and is fine for most, but she ignored my request and did it anyways. Overall, this experience caused me pain and stress and is exactly the opposite of what I needed on any day, but especially before I head into my labor induction tonight. What a massive disappointment.
I've brought so many friends here and usually talk up Vida as a great spot for nails on Franklin Ave. But really not sure I will ever come back. If I do, I know for certain I won't ever return to LaLa and hope this review informs anyone considering coming here to get a different technician who won't leave you in pain, with possibly infected toenails, and services...
Read moreIt was my first time and seeing that it's in my neighborhood, I gave it a try. Plus I was kind of pressed for time. I usually get a gel manicure and pedicure or sometimes I would get acrylic tip with gel top quote. I go to different nail salons. All these nail salons are very confusing when it comes to getting tips with gel cover, so many names. The manager Terry was nice to me and suggested I do the UV Gel tip set. I wasn't informed that it would be burning hot putting it in the machine. To the point that I had to keep taking out my hands. The nail technician Chloe was rushing to do my nails through the process, I kept telling her nicely to not rush. She kept hurting my cuticles. But she kept on rushing and was sighing. So I told her to stop and wanted somebody else to do my nails. I spoke to Terry, and had to wait 15 minutes with all the hot gel acrylic unfinished. Miya was very nice and did my nails, she hurt my cuticles a little to but she took her time. We had a few laughs about random things. When I asked her to put the medicine on she gave me a paused look and said it wasn't bleeding. But she was still nice to apply it. She really didn't do a good job on my eyebrows but she fixed it to make it look "presentable". When it was time to pay I gave Miya who did my nails and Jack who did my toes a sufficient amount tip, and what I could honestly afford to give. The manager said technically the tip is supposed to be a little more but what I gave is okay. I didn't know they expect you to still tip your technician higher no matter how your service was. I spent $197 for my nails toes and eyebrows. Compared to when I go to other places is at least $85 for everything. I don't think I will be going back to Vida's, I'll just stick with locals. So I give this place a solid 3...
Read moreI hate to have to be the one to write this review, but this establishment IS ONLY ABT THE MONEY WHEN YOUR A PERSON OF COLOR THEY SHOW THR MINIMAL RESPECT. I come to this salon because of the convenience but this will be my last time they do an ok job, pricey, I love that they give massages (at a price of course) but not everyone has the same magic hands. When you request for a certain person they immediately dismiss your request and assign whoever is available (even if you’re willing to wait) but what really upset me and I’ve tried to look past it everytime … the fact that they hound you down for a tip. I’m not a cheap person I like to spend but if I don’t have it today I find it really rude to give me sour face once I’ve paid my hard working money. I gave a 5 dollar tip and the guy scoffed at me mind you I spent over 100.00 with them. I’ve even had one of the lady’s run out behind me asking for a tip and forced me to give one via Zelle when I didn’t have cash. People tip to show appreciation to the service and whoever serviced them it is not mandatory to tip especially if the service wasn’t good. But the fact that this place is set on tips and if it isn’t a hefty tip they are disgusted. Disgusts me please think before you go to this pricey establishment the work is OK I’ve been to better salons, that appreciate their customers tip or not. Please don’t get me wrong I like to tip but if your flat out asking me and hounding me I...
