This place was not for me. If you are looking for more of a “classic” experience (zero frills) then you may like it, but I prefer more of a modern nail salon experience. I was a walk-in and I was able to be seated within 15 minutes of being there. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating.
I’m not a huge fan of the way my nails turned out or the way they priced everything. I received a fill (acrylic) which was $25, but to have gel polish added (which is normally just included in my experience) they charged me an extra $20. I also get a French tip, which I was told was $5 extra dollars by the nail tech, only for them to charge me another $20 as a nail art charge. I am not a fan of how the French tip was done, but there’s only so much you can do about that, even if you try to correct/explain what you want. The polish application was also a little sloppy (there’s a decent amount on my cuticles/fingers).
The pedicure was not good. When I visit a place for the first time, I like to get deluxe versions of whatever they offer, and this one was certainly lacking to say the least. It was only $50 total, but once again, I was charged $20 for gel on top of that (which they notified me of when I requested the service. so it wasn’t a surprise.) The best pedicure they offer only includes a “mask” and a massage on top of the pedicure (no gel included). Very basic: no stones, no wrapped hot towels, no paraffin (though I think you can get this in another pedicure? Just not the deluxe one).
I always get gel on my toes, and when it’s time to get a new pedicure, I always get to soak my feet before they try removing the previous gel. This was not the case here, as they went in dry and tried to file the polish off my feet before my feet were even wet. It wasn’t a very gentle experience, as I’m used to, and I feel very neutral about the way my toes turned out.
Overall, like I said, it’s not a modern experience. If you’re wanting to pick a color off the wall and have someone put it on your nails, this is your spot. But if you’re looking for a more modern/medium lux experience (a drink, different types of pedicures, etc) you may want to...
Read moreI never make reviews but after my experience here I HAD to. I came to this shop for the first time and needed a fill. My nails were 3 weeks grown out and they were just very sloppy and messy when I originally got them done 3 weeks ago at different shop. Kim was AMAZING. Her attention to detail is exactly what I’m looking for when I get my nails done. She changed my previous coffin shaped nails to almond shaped without an extra charge. She made sure I actually liked how they looked MULTIPLE times before putting on polish. She pushed my cuticles back before doing my fill (I honestly don’t think any nail tech has done that on my nails), and they are thin, strong, and natural looking as if they are my own nails. The majority of the time I get my nails done, they’re a little too thick and bumpy. She even helped me pick the right color red because the original one we both agreed was a little too orange. When applying the polish, she made sure to get around the edges of the nails and get as close to my cuticles as possible. You’d think that would be the standard at every nail salon. Everything felt very clean and I watched her take her tools out of a sterilizing machine. On top of all of that, the price was INSANELY good for NYC. I’ve had a hard time finding a nail shop that matches the prices I used to pay back home in Virginia, and also actually do a good job. In the 10 years I’ve been getting my nails done and the countless of salons I’ve been to in multiple states, this is the best my nails have...
Read moreMy nails were done by Maria. They looked great but took forever to dry. It's hours later and they're getting imprints and scratches, which I despise!! It's so disappointing. I sat for 5 crying cycles and even added oil to help with the drying. Complete fail. I usually get gel specifically for that reason but they charge an extra $20 to use the gel polish in addition to the price of the $22 fill-in, along with $5 to remove the gel that was already on my nails, and $3 for a cut down. For a fill-in that is way too much, when other nail salons charge a gel set fill-in price a couple of dollars (not $20) more than a regular fill-in. So I paid $30 and tipped $5 just for my nails to deteriorate hours later. This sucks because Maria did such a good job. The color is lovely and I wanted it to last longer than a week. I guess I'll just get my usual gel set elsewhere in the same...
