i recently stayed here for the new years holiday. The location was okay, it right off Atlantic Avenue, which is really really busy street. I was glad i had someone guide me or i don't think i would of found it but so easily. On arrival, the woman Carmen at the desk was very friendly, check in was at 3:30pm, i arrived around 1:30 and was able to check in no problem. I thank them for that , because i didn't want to be wandering around Brooklyn with my luggage. The rooms are as described the pictures provided are spot on as to what is to be expected. It met my expectations and much more. The room was nice and clean, the bathrooms were as well. The day i checked out i needed a taxi, the two men at the front desk got on it immediately, and called and got it scheduled for me. (even though i ended up not needing it). The only things that i really had a problem with was there wasn't a refrigerator in the room, that would of made it more convenient when bringing food back, and also how close the elevators were to the rooms. It was so close that if someone was really loud getting off the elevators or in the hallways period, it seems like they might as well been in standing in your room The view wasn't all that great, when i opened my window, i looked at the back of some buildings that were somewhat run down.. but that was my only complaints, i think i would stay there again. The price was okay...
Read moreI don't always write a review - but when I do it's because I am really impressed or I am terribly disappointed. In this case I am disappointed mostly because I wasn't even given an opportunity to be impressed.
The day of my reservation I got an email from the third party (not from the hotel directly) that says:
"Hotel Luxe NY has been in touch with us today regarding your reservation Unfortunately Hotel Luxe NY won’t be able to honour this reservation and accommodate you on the dates of your planned stay. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
I've read that this actually happened to someone else who had written a review, only they found out when they'd gotten to the hotel I believe.
It's worth mentioning that I had called the hotel a day before to CONFIRM my reservation, and the desk attendant CONFIRMED verbally and said that I was "all set". The concept of a "reservation" did not hold at this hotel, and my travel plans are now significantly impacted by this.
I was also not given any explanation as to why my reservation cannot be honored after it was confirmed. It's Halloween weekend so I'm sure there are a lot of people coming into NY willing to pay high prices for rooms originally going for lower prices - just saying.
Good luck and I hope you found my...
Read moreRecently stayed at this hotel because I was in town for a family function. We were told we got the last room. Our room was 102 which is in the very front of the hotel. So you will hear all the traffic as well as the train that is directly in front of the hotel. It did not bother me because I'm a city girl anyway. Others probably won't like all the noise. The parking lot in the back of the building is VERY small and VERY tight spaces, so hopefully you will have a very small car like I did, to be able to fit with no problem. The free breakfast consists of bagels, doughnuts, cereal, coffee,OJ, & milk. Nothing great but whatever. I like eating at local diners anyway. Our room was just ok. There is no iron in the room but there is an ironing board. We did not receive housekeeping service daily (weird) but I only needed the trash to be emptied and a new washcloth. When I asked for one on Sunday (I checked in Friday) I was told that they only had one left (wow & ewww). The lamps were damaged and the throw pillow had a huge tear. The pillows for sleeping are small and square, not rectangle, so don't expect much. The bed was ok, but the bedding is thin & cheap. Just don't expect too much as far as luxury is concerned. The name is deceiving, however, I did like the location & the...
