Every time I think they can’t get any worse they manage to prove me wrong. Today I had to call repeatedly to find out when they would know if my medication would be in by tomorrow (Friday) and I kept getting told to call on Monday – when my vacation is running out tomorrow – Friday. Just awful awful people. Why you become a pharmacist when you don’t care about people and their well-being? Why on earth do they hire these terrible people to work customer service this is why Walgreens is closing of their stores. This is why their stock is plummeting. It’s not that difficult to treat people with basic decency, but apparently it’s too difficult for these people
I am amending this review to say there is one pharmacist, Elida (I hope I spelled that right) who is lovely and goes above and beyond to help, which is especially commendable given that the rest of the Walgreens Rx business is a nightmare. She was very helpful today when my Rx was cancelled for no reason. It doesn't make up for the rest of the system being awful, and I hope she finds a job somewhere else that treats people better.
After 4 1/2 hours of trying to get my heart medication delivered I finally transferred it to Konwaler pharmacy and after a couple quick friendly calls, they brought it over. Just go to Cohen Waller. They’re lovely, Friendly, helpful, organized. Their generic brand products are actually reasonably priced. They charge half as much for asthma inhalers as Walgreens. Half. meanwhile, at this, Walgreens, I placed an order online yesterday to have medication delivered yesterday Because the pharmacist told me that they couldn’t accept an order for delivery, unless it was made online. Three hours later I get a text saying that my order is canceled and call the pharmacy. The pharmacy says that I canceled the order. I did not. But more importantly, I needed my medication. They told me I could only get a delivery if I placed the order online. I could not place the order online because, the app said that my order was out for delivery and I couldn’t get the prescription filled twice twice. I tried explaining this in the pharmacist. So I called the Walgreens main customer service number seven times over two hours and no one could tell me when I would be getting my medication. I spent another 45 minutes, trying to speak to the Walgreens central this morning, then contacted the pharmacy who told me that I had never placed an order online. ??? How would I receive a text saying that my order was canceled if I never placed an order? And suddenly they were able to cancel the original order for me and refill the prescription, they wouldn’t explain why they couldn’t have just done this yesterday evening, but they said the only way for me to get it delivered would be to reply to a text. And I never got the text. And since they couldn’t figure out how to get the text sent to me they suggested that I come in person to get it, I was getting it delivered because I physically can’t get there. Shouldn’t it be the responsibility of a Walgreens employee to figure out how to make the Walgreens system work? Anyway, I’m more than happy to be giving Konwaler...
Read moreThere has been a significant change in the pharmacy at this location. It used to be staffed with lovely, professional, competent pharmacists. Maybe a change in management has caused this massive disruption of service?? Prescriptions are not only not being filled efficiently, the pharmacy has been COMPLETELY closed due to a lack of staff. Really?!?! I know of a particular pharmacist who was extremely productive, intelligent, and competent, who very much wanted to work at this location. Was a pleasure, needed to work locally, yet, was sent to another store. A friendly, wise individual who actually remembered each client, and their specific needs. Went above and beyond for her customers. In addition, one of our long-time pharmacists left. Quit?? Management left us with fill-in staffers who were totally inadequate. I once received a call warning that the pharmacy would be closed the next day, so I should come immediately to get my scripts. Since then, there have been many days the pharmacy has been closed for a full day, or part of a day. Many hours spent on hold waiting for assistance “you are the next caller, please wait”. Only to learn (after my husband actually went there) that the pharmacy was closed yet again! I was still on hold, LOLOL! The online site says it’s open, the recorded message says they are taking care of another customer, please wait, and they are CLOSED! I am only ONE customer having extreme difficultly getting my necessary medications. Can’t imagine how awful this is for elderly and ill individuals! This particular location (Prospect Avenue and 11th avenue, in Brooklyn) is not being managed adequately to serve our neighborhood. For a large chain with enormous resources, it’s deplorable! Shame on you Walgreens! I’ve been a customer since the initial opening, and have been very happy! Something is going on, behind the scenes, and it’s not covid! Assume managerial incompetence, but, who knows?!? Other privately owned, small, local, pharmacies are doing a great job of getting prescriptions filled as well as providing covid testing and vaccinations, without the enormous resources of a Walgreens. I would recommend customers go to Ballards, or Oakpark Pharmacies, where they are working their tails off providing the community with much needed services. I would NOT recommend this store for pharmacy services. It’s too bad! They used...
Read moreI’ve filled my prescriptions here since 2017 and as many others have noted, the experience has significantly gone downhill since ~2020-21.
Echoing the sentiment that there never seems to be enough staff at the pharmacy and they have not been adequately trained to deal with people. I’ve waited in line while a single customer stands at the counter, making long phone calls to their spouse/parent/insurance company when there are 10+ people waiting on line, while the cashier just stands there staring off into space instead of asking the customer who is not prepared to proceed with their transaction to step aside so they can help the people who are waiting.
I finally had such an overwhelmingly bad experience today that I felt compelled to leave this review. There was someone working at the pharmacy that I’ve not seen there before. After she rang everything up, she asked me if I wanted to charge the card on file (that I sometimes use to get prescriptions delivered). I said no and I had the card I wanted to use in my hand, but she didn’t even wait for a response and had already processed the transaction to the card on file. Considering that when I’m waiting in line behind someone, it never seems like the cashier is in any kind of hurry, this seriously pissed me off. Don’t ask the question if you’ve already assumed the answer.
After she charged it to the payment method I didn’t want to use, she apologized and started to say that they could refund that payment and start a new transaction but I didn’t have the time to be standing around and waiting for someone above her pay grade to come handle the two unnecessary transactions that her carelessness necessitated, particularly considering that I thought it could be complicated since the prescriptions had already been scanned once.
The staff at this store never have as much patience with you as they do for the 15 customers in front of you that get up to the register and never seem to have a damn clue as to why...
