I was so disappointed by the quality of the food. Everything was off. I ordered French onion soup as a starter and it came out cold, and even when they brought it out again it lacked flavor - and this for $17 for a cup of soup. The $20 wedge salad was a hacked up piece of iceberg lettuce with barely anything else besides cream dressing, and the “bacon bits” were so stale it hurt to chew them. It said it came with blue cheese and pickled egg, there were just tiny bits of that. They clearly wanted to spend only $3 on the $20 salad. Embarrassing. For entrees we ordered the NY strip steak and scallops. The steak was tough like shoe leather and flavorless, so we took most of it home for our dog to eat. I was surprised he went for it. The scallops weren’t awful but came out cold, overly salted, and the chestnut purée which I was excited for was just weird. The only dish which was well prepared was the side of Brussels sprouts with apple butter and rosemary ; but even they were served at room temperature. Does this restaurant not understand that hot food is supposed to be served hot? If I want tepid food I can buy prepared food at the grocery store. I like to cook, but my abilities should not exceed professional chefs. I barely ever cook steak and still know I could have done much better making it myself. Maybe the meat was just old or cheap? It didn’t even seem like the cut they stated it was. It was my boyfriends birthday and I was embarrassed to have taken him here. The menu, which looks creative, and the nice setting fooled me. Don’t be fooled. These people don’t have it together and they are acting like a fine establishment which they are certainly not. The wait staff was polite and did nothing wrong, but if the food is awful, what can they do? Whoever in the kitchen, get it together. Quality ingredients. Don’t burn your broccoli and then serve it. Make sure the food is hot. I feel like...
Read moreNever like to speak poorly about a local business but want to warn people: if you or your kids have food allergies, do not go here. Was excited to try it as it looked cute walking by. Went with a friend, immediately informed them of my allergies (nuts and sesame), then we ordered a starter salad which did not list any nuts on the menu (it listed all the other ingredients of the salad). Server comes out with salad, poke around a little and it looks like there's a layer of nuts. I flag her down (mistakes happen, I get it), and tell her about it. She apologizes and says they'll remake the salad. About ten minutes later it comes out again, there are no visible nuts and I eat some. Instantly I know something's wrong; my friend and I dig, and there are several nut pieces mixed through--not a cross-contamination thing; it was just fully in the dish. Had to leave immediately to seek treatment. They got an earful from me on the way out, and hopefully this will make them rethink their practices. But both on the front- and back-of-house side they are not aware of what's in the dishes. I don't expect every restaurant to be able to accommodate allergens, but I do expect them to tell me that they can't handle it and to either order something else (from the get-go no one told me where would be nuts in the salad) or to go to a different restaurant. Oh, and despite it being a Saturday night, we were the only table eating dinner so it wasn't a busy issue (I've also worked in restaurants...
Read moreReally exciting addition to the neighborhood!! Here’s a quick recap of food/drink:
Old Fashioned- solid!! Dark and Stormy - one of the best I’ve had; if you love ginger, get this. Irish Coffee- really reminds me of the Irish coffees I had back in Ireland…. Not overly sweet and excellent coffee that isn’t too strong. Very smooth.
The soda bread w/ cultured butter — I honestly hate soda bread but our waitress, Nora, recommended it and I’m glad I took her word for it. This soda bread is DANGEROUS— like Cheddar Bay Biscuit/top 3 scone level of delicious. Warm, fresh—- just all around fantastic.
Potato croquettes - Great! And I love the nod to Ireland w/ the HP sauce!
Cheeseburger- I’ve found my new favorite burger in the neighborhood.
Ravioli- It comes as this big swirl and looks almost like a cinnamon bun. Delish.
Shout out to Sarah as she is working her tail off to navigate the huge rush of folks trying to grab a table since they first opened. She really cares and goes the extra mile to remember you and try to make it work for you.
And another shout out to our waitress, Nora!! She is giving you Manhattan-level professionalism with neighborhood charm + great attention to detail with her food recs. An absolute delight.
Thanks all for a fantastic date night! We’ll be...
