The new platform is very beautiful, arguably the best in New York City. The stores and restaurants are nice, for sure, but the real centerpiece is the Oculus itself. Santiago Calatrava designed the Oculus to be timeless, and that stands true, without a doubt. It looks like something out of a science fiction novel, truly stunning and completely unique. The way the light filters in is magical, and changes throughout the day. The space itself is massive, it's like stepping into Heaven. The entire perimeter of the building along the outside at ground level (the actual station is subterranean) has seating, it's a great place to rest, eat, and people watch. The absolute symbolism of this station's existence is stunning. It goes hand in hand with the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, and to me, represents that humanity can create something so beautiful from such a tragedy.
