Don’t go here if you don’t want to meet a racist staff. Very arrogant staffs without any proper service. An African American seemingly middle aged women here is a toxic. It was a pleasant experience until I asked her if she saw my umbrella. I went back to find my umbrella and asked a fore-mentioned cleaning staff about it by saying “Do you happen to see my umbrella? I left a minute ago.” with very respectful manner. Then her reaction was nonsense and very arrogant from the first place. I explained that I moved my seating from the high top table to the low one and how my umbrella looks like because I didn’t realize when/where I lost my umbrella. First I thought that women was just to be sure to hand over the umbrella to the right person. But as time goes, her arrogance was a total joke. Instead of listening to what I said and hand my umbrella over to me, she repeated me that “You lied to me about you lost an umbrella a minute ago. (It sounds like she thought I lied about “a minute” because I want to get my umbrella back quickly? Or honestly I really can’t understand why she was so obsessed about a minute thing.) I will correct you.” literally several times. She wasted my time by saying this over and over and then denied the fact that she told me that I lied to her (which is not true) when things got serious later. Plus, in a retrospective mind, she didn’t clean only our table purposely based on our racial appearance because she cleaned every single table except for ours regardless people’s existence. So my mom kindly cleaned everything that we had and I also did some help to throw up the stuffs. (She even told me thank you to me just before I left and came back) Apparently we did the job for that racist staff. What I am so upset about it is 1) how come a staff call a customer a liar who just tries to find their umbrella?, 2) she treated me like I am a child- hey, I just look younger than my age and you don’t have any right to treat a customer in an inappropriate manner. Maybe she wanted to educate someone who looks naive?, 3) she was even very sarcastic about my mom at the end (I don’t want to write about it), and 4) there was another African American women staff who said “It’s done” with just trying to wrap things up by ignoring me while I was still talking about this nonsense. Any staff didn’t come out and try to apologize to me about aforementioned staff’s behavior. I wanted to get her/manager’s apologies but just decided to leave. But I can be sure about the fact that Shack Shack, you don’t want this outrageous situation again for your customers. Thank you, you totally made my day by hiring this terrible person! This women was working between 12pm and...
Read moreI came here almost every day after work for months and spent at least $15-20 every single time. I always bring in fries from Popeyes to go with my shake shack meal. Today, I was asked not to sit in the dining area because i had outside food with me. I told them that I have been eating in their dining area every single time I buy food here. And I never eat outside food without paying and eating my shakeshack with it. I was astounded that they were asking me to leave for something so meaningless. I decided to ignore their "policy" and sit down to eat anyway because I need somewhere to eat the food that i had just paid for.
The manager came over and told me they would get security to escort me out if I ate my other food despite also eating my shake shack food. Ridiculous. Horrible service. I still can't believe it. I ate ALL of my food calmly without security ever showing up. I cleaned up after myself as i always do. I'm always polite to the staff. And I always mind my own business and don't bother anyone around me. So, I was basically made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome for no reason other than wanting to eat my food in peace.
I've had nothing but great experiences at this location for the past year, and suddenly, I don't feel comfortable eating or spending money here ever again. I wonder why...
Update: I come maybe once a week now. I am here eating now and just witnessed an employee of Shake Shack sitting with her bag and food from Chick-Fil-A. Sigh... LOL. I'll let that...
Read moreHello, I'm a tourist who came to New York to explore the city. I decided to visit your establishment after hearing great things about your burgers and dishes. I came with friends, and we ordered a variety of drinks, burgers, and more, spending a substantial amount. I had some uneaten sushi with me, just one package, a few pieces, purchased from another place. We started eating, but I didn't touch the sushi; they remained neatly packed on the table.
Then, a cleaner approached us, insisting that we remove the sushi from the table. I explained that we didn't have bags and that they were just sitting there, untouched. However, this didn't satisfy her, and she insisted we leave the premises. Despite being three people and having spent over $200 for our meal – a significant amount for us – we were asked to leave.
My question is, why in a supposedly "free" country can't we just sit at a table and place perfectly safe items on it? These sushi weren't even labeled from another establishment. Are the USA so restrictive that they prohibit peacefully sitting with food? I'm sorry, but I didn't know that eating wherever you want is forbidden in the USA. Did I break the law? Did I do something wrong? I just wanted to eat peacefully without involving the police or security for ordinary food. Your burgers are delicious, but the rules...
