I decided to try this place out because I just wanted to trim off any split ends I had. So I asked them to cut off 1 inch of hair. For long hair, they charge $9, so I decided to tip them $2, which is already 22% tip. But they would not let me leave the store until I tipped them $3 (33%). If it had been great service, or I had asked for anything difficult, I would definitely tip them AT LEAST $3. But I didn't ask for any kind of styling nor did I make any special requests to warrant their rude and forceful behavior; it's not like I undertipped them. In fact, the stylist had been pretty rude from the start. My friend and I had both gotten haircuts here at the same time and we agreed after that experience, to never come back here again. Well, the claimed price is definitely very good. BUT. But they will force you to pay the tip. The lady that cut my hair was speaking loudly on phone in Chinese during the haircut process. I thing this is enough to refrain from giving a tip. But the lady thinks different and she was shouting, holding my hand and when I left she even came out outside the salon requiring me to pay the tip. I explained why I'm not giving the tip. But she didn't want take this argument. I asked her if she is the owner just to let her understand that I can complain for such client mistreatment. They are my barber/ hair stylist for years as I get a crew cut with clippers everytime. I can speak rudimentary Cantonese so I can communicate with the owners. They are honest immigrants who provide conventional hair styling services at low cost. They represent the barber my dad used to take me to get a simple cut.
