The Balboa Peninsula markets and attractions strart at the cross street of Palm and Balboa. There are two small sized parking lots and a huge lot by the Balboa pier. Most parking is done via kiosk payment. TIP * You can pay or add parking time via a PH app. Payment is keyed to your license plate. Do not test the meters for late pay. The city employs a 3rd party that rolls around in modified cars with cameras. As your traveling SE down Balboa, the Pacific Ocean is on your right, the Newport Beach harbor is on your left. Take a L at Palm if you want to ride the famous ferries accross to Balboa Island. Next to the ferries are several food shops, a ferris wheel and an arcade. There's a land bridge on the NE side of Balboa island and signs to exit back to mainland. The common bike path starts roughly at E street and can be traveled N as far a Huntington Harbor on the Pacific ocean side. Newport and Huntington piers are along the way. Watch out for people riding too fast or walking with too many people wide abreast. NBPD has in recent years put police on bikes to patrol and watcgmh people for bike speeding. Also, be mindful that a lot of bikes run the stop sign intersections on the bike path too. You can rent bicycles at quite a few shops here for hourly or day rates. The very end of the peninsula has the famous Wedge area and the N side jetty. At this park area beautiful views of ships and boats with Corona del Mar can be had accross the Harbor entrance. Corona del Mar beach is accross the water, but is beyond scope of this review. The jetty rocks are fun to climb on but they're slippery with sand and pretty challenging, users have caution here.
