If you go to Newport/ Balboa, start at Balboa parking is more scarce, and you will spend more time there. There is the island, the famous ferry (bring cash), and check out the fruit stand when you get off the ferry. Ask for the chocolate dipped strawberry. These are share size and will satisfy 2 peoples sweet teeth. If you prefer Bannanas there is a world famous chocolate coverd banana shop The Original Frozen Bannana. There is also the fun zone, Ruby's on the pier for lunch,always fun to look for Dolphins, and see what the fisherman are producing, and if you really want to be adventurous, stop by Cecils cycles and rent some bikes before you explore the island. Then, take them across on the ferry and cruise the 2 mile path to Newport. Be sure to admire some of the Beach homes, of course the beach, and check deffinatly check out the shops.
