Went to Balboa Candy in Newport while heading over to the Wedge and didn’t realize they had expanded into the spot next door. It’s now a much bigger and more modern space, but still holds that old school charm I’ve always loved. I was pumped to check it out and was really happy to see that they still have their huge variety of Sweet Tarts and saltwater taffy—honestly one of the best selections I’ve seen. The candy options are endless, with a ton of nostalgic stuff I remember seeing as a kid. They’ve also added some nice touches like house made baked goods, caramel, and other treats they make right there. Plus they have ice cream, which makes it even more of a go-to spot whether you're just passing through or spending the day at the beach. I ended up grabbing a Ramune (always a favorite), some cotton candy, and of course had to load up on taffies. Super glad they kept that fun, throwback vibe while giving the shop a clean new look.
