I went to Nordstrom Local (17th Street) return hoop earrings I had purchased two months prior. I had not kept packaging b/c I liked them and planned on keeping them but the click-in locking mechanism on the back wouldn’t hold. I went to Nordstrom Local and was the only customer in the store. The customer service person (Tamra ) was not super friendly and told me “we would need the original packaging because we don’t know anything about it…”. When I suggested she look up the the purchase on her computer and she did -but rather begrudgingly. She found the purchase from 2 months prior pretty quickly. She said she would do me a favor and take them but said again, “normally we need packaging”. SO, The product was defective, which she could test herself, and she could see it was the same product I purchased in April. So my question is: Is there a policy at Nordstrom that does not allow returns without the “original packaging”? Who keeps the packaging of things they decide to keep? Read moreAs someone who shops pretty much 100% online and doesn’t want to shop in store, nordstrom local is perfect. The one thing I need to do in person is alterations and I find this to be much more convenient + faster than needing to go into a full nordstrom store.
I’ve had no issues with just walking in for alternations and I’ve had a range of alternations done from simple hems to more significant tailoring that have all turned out great.
I no longer live in the area, but will sometimes bring alternations back with me when I visit because this location is so much less hassle than getting nordstrom alterations by me.
