State & Liberty — Local services in Newport Beach

I would love to share my experience at the State and Liberty location in Newport Beach at Fashion Island.

I met with a young gentleman, (I didn't get a chance to get a card from him to remember his name) who assisted me on Saturday, 5/18/24. I previously booked a fitting in person, which I'm so glad I did, as the sizes do run small and the in-store fitter gave me all the guidance I needed. From the moment I arrived, I pretty much knew what I wanted but my circumstances surrounding the purchase of this suit were very heavy.

Little more than a month ago, my wife passed away, after a 5 year long battle with Ovarian Cancer. My grief has been ever-changing and always keeps me on my toes, as I'm never sure when the tears will well-up brought on by a memory, song, etc. Being out of my house is even a struggle sometimes. So, my wife asked in her will that nobody wear any black at all for her celebration of life. She also mentioned to me before she passed that she wanted me to wear a bright pink shirt (her favorite color) with a navy blue or gray suit. I have always wanted a navy suit but never had the money or the time to ever buy something new. This was different. I wanted to look my best, while feeling comfortable for the celebration of my wife's beautiful life, happening at the end of this week on Friday. Not only did I feel immensely taken care of in terms of finding and leaving the store with one of the best suits I've ever worn, but the gent who took care of me connected with me, made me feel comfortable and safe. He was generous with his compliments and suggestions and handled my "situation" with the utmost class. I'm a State and Liberty fan for life and will continue to shop in the store when I want to look/feel my best. As a veteran, I was offered a military discount and that spoke volumes of State and Liberty's values and care for the community.

Jacob was awesome! I just picked up my wedding suit the navy blue heathered I think? The suits themselves fit great right off the rack at least on me! I am 5'10 / 5'11 ish with a 40R size normally and got a size 40 here as well. For pants normally I'm a 31 / 40, and here I got the 33s and getting them hemmed. The material is nice and stretchy. Not as stretchy as the X suit 4.0, but looks nicer and at least on the heathered suit, has a very nice texture. I can do squats and jumps very easily in the suit with no problems.

Jacob, our sales rep was very nice to talkative and even offered us drinks once we got in! My brother got a mango cart and I just got sparkling water. I had heavier drinks that you can pour. Very low pressure and gave honest feedback on how the suit fit. One of those guys that said yes it looks good no matter what. We even talked for a bit afterwards when the sale was done because he was very conversational and had great feedback!

Overall...

My husband is very particular about how fabrics feel and also is a very petite man so I knew finding a suit for our wedding would be a challenge. However, State and Liberty Newport Beach made this such an enjoyable experience. The fabrics are so soft (and machine washable)! We ended up doing a custom suit due to his measurement and the customer service was excellent. The first suit we got back has a few measurements off, and we were able to get a replacement suit with no issues. We were able to also fine tune with some tailoring after the suit was cut. We got married in Palm Springs in the spring and the suit was so breathable that my fiancé was fine wearing it all evening! The experience was amazing and we highly recommend working with State and Liberty, particularly Mira and Elias who helped us get the perfect suit fitting!
