I order a 1/2 sheet cake on Wednesday and was going to pick it up Saturday morning. I told the little girl I could pick it up whenever between 10-12 on Saturday and she assured me it would be ready by 10am. I went to pick up my cake at 10am and the deli person (I think she was the deli manager) handed me the cake and the icing was cracking. A big crack right in the middle of the words. I showed it to her and she was surprised and she went to go get the cake decorator from the back of the store. She said “she just decorated this morning.” I have been a cake decorator for Food Lion before and I know exactly what happened the cake decorator decorated my cake while it was frozen and like anything once heat is applied it expands and causes the icing to crack. The cake decorator tries to smooth the icing with a little spatula. However, the icing has settled at this point and you can definitely tell it’s a patch job. Because of this cake decorator’s incompetence I was caught between a rock and a hard place. This cake was for a bridal shower for 30-40 people. The cake decorator had the nerve to say that the reason why the cake was cracking was because of the way the box was held, because when it was handed to me, the previous associate held it by the sides instead of supporting the middle, however, if that was the case, the cake would concave and it wouldn’t crack like that. Between the deli manager and the cake decorator, they seriously need to brush up on their training because rule number one is you cannot icing a frozen cake because of the cracks and it makes you have to let it thaw, and these people should have called me and asked if I could’ve picked it up later, they should have decorated it either on Thursday or Friday and not waited until the first thing in the morning on Saturday. I was very upset because these people chose to take a short cut or they procrastinated my order and sold me a subpar cake. They did give me a 40% discount off the cake but that’s not the principal the principal is this was a cake. It was a gift for an event that I was hosting. I called and placed the order with plenty of time for them to decorate it correctly, and they chose not to. The picture below is of the cake and what it looked like at 2 for the bridal shower is was an embarrassment on the table and was very...
Read moreI went into this store at 8:30PM on July 31st. I bought water and several beverage packages along with a half a cart of food. As I walked through the aisles, I saw many employees stocking shelves. I walk up to the counter to check out and there was no one else up front. There were probably 10-15 other people in the store shopping through out the store. I asked the employee standing at the self checkout, "can you check me out at the main check out lane?" I thought since I had all the stuff I did, this would not be a problem. The employee replied, "No, only the self check-out is open." I replied back that if this is my only option then I will just walk out and she can unload my cart. She huffs and puffs and unwilling goes over to the main checkout. I explain that if my response is upsetting her, I can just leave. She replies, "Well, it is almost 9:00PM." I respond with, "What does that mean?" She says that they do not have the staffing to run a register. I explained that I saw all of the employees stocking the shelves. I also go on to explain that the counter to checkout groceries is not large enough to hold all of the groceries, plus I am not lifting all of the drinks up to the counter to fight with the scanner. The self checkout should be really for someone with just a few items. She says, "Well, it doesn't matter anyway." I said, "Excuse me, what was that?" She says, "I am checking you out any way." Then out from the back, pops out a night manager, who parades himself over to the register and begin bashing some employee that went MIA and no one knew where he was. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, what has happened to this store? I am super disappointed. I used to love shopping here! I guess it is time to go other places. Lord knows that there are MANY to...
Read moreAside from the store needing to be wiped down, cleaned thoroughly ( go to get milk and all the jugs are filthy and the fridge part always smell like sh*t as if the actual cows are in the back. UGGG) Then you have some good customer se4vice and bad customer service as if the workers have attitudes. Yesterday I stopped by the deli, to be ignored for 30 whole minutes, no one greeted me and I caught a few eyes but the ladies kept on working as if I was CASPER. Another lady walks right up and they run to the counter and was immediately helped. I stood there looking but thank God for the young lady who was in the office part who saw me standing there who said NO, she needs to be helped bc she has been standing there patiently after some time. So the same older lady who saw me when I first walked up had the rudest attitude ever. Very Nasty. I try not to think like this, but clearly the other lady was Caucasian and I'm Ouuuie Gooie Caramel. It's sad what...
