Ever since the XSport Fitness location in Niles shut down, there’s been a massive influx of members transferred to this gym. Unfortunately, the transition has been handled very poorly by management, and the result is a severely overcrowded and increasingly unclean facility. Wait times for machines are excessive, and despite the obvious increase in traffic, no meaningful changes have been made to accommodate the higher volume of members. Instead of adapting the space to meet growing demand, management has actually made things worse.
Most notably, a large portion of the gym floor has now been blocked off with plastic posts and barriers, essentially creating a makeshift “VIP section” that’s reserved exclusively for personal trainers and their clients. This area was previously accessible to all members, but now regular gym-goers are told they’re not allowed to use it unless they’re paying for training sessions — even during peak hours, when the space often sits empty or is used by just one trainer and client for short periods of time.
To make matters worse, the attitude of the management team is unacceptable. Members have been approached in a rude and aggressive manner by both managers and trainers when entering the restricted area, even during peak hours when the main floor is overcrowded and the reserved space is sitting empty. It's incredibly frustrating to see paying members being treated with such disrespect especially when the majority are being pushed aside to prioritize a small group of personal training clients. It sends a clear message: if you're not buying extra services, your experience doesn’t matter!!!
What’s even more baffling is that the gym has multiple unused rooms that have been sitting empty for months possibly since the gym opened. These rooms could easily be converted into private training areas, freeing up valuable space on the main floor for general use. Instead, management continues to misuse shared space, worsening the crowding issue and ignoring obvious, practical solutions.
There’s also been no attempt to reorganize equipment or adjust the gym layout to improve flow or efficiency. Given the circumstances, it’s surprising that corporate hasn’t stepped in. The lack of foresight, communication, and responsiveness suggests a total disregard for member experience.
Many long-time members are already canceling and looking for alternatives. But WE shouldn’t have to leave in order to find a gym that values its members and exercises basic common sense in space management.
Bottom line: Unless serious changes are made including reallocating shared space, utilizing vacant rooms for personal training, and improving crowd control during peak hours, this gym will continue to lose members and damage its reputation! We encourage other members to voice their concerns directly to corporate. It’s clear that the current management team lacks the ability or willingness to handle the situation effectively and they do not have the experience, knowledge or determination to makes real changes. What they do have is plenty of ego on display but unfortunately not much brains...
Read moreI just can’t give it five stars and I probably never will be able to. The staff is generally speaking, polite, but much like their other location is not particularly motivated to take care of issues. On-site management has demonstrated a very short period of time for club, that has been only open for five months approximately that they’re not prepared nor well organized. Just recently they ran out of all the hand, sanitizing wipes, which were the only way to wipe down the machines and or equipment. They then brought in paper towels and spray bottles which within two days they ran out of paper towels for the entire operation. So for another two days, the gym ran essentially without being able to be sanitized by any of the patrons. The number of machines that have broken has been on the rise and the time for which, they are taken care of his also been on the rise. Unfortunately, I approached three different people on six different occasions about one particular piece of equipment to get it fixed, and I was met with apathy. One person actually said he was injured and how would he know that it’s broken. Either way, the injured salesman acknowledged for the third time the fact that it was broken and did absolutely nothing. It wasn’t until the second of the two stations broke, both seated rows, that anybody bothered to correct either one of them. Two weeks later, I found myself in the area where all the cable stations are only to realize that half of them are broken. It’s understandable as these tend to be the items that break the most frequently. However, there should be a plan to to repair them in quick order.
If you made it through this, then here are the pros to the space, most of the machinery works pretty well. They’ve got a ton of squat stations two different TRX and/or Astroturf areas for other activities. They have a substantially large quantity of cardio machines that always seem to have one or two available even during the busiest of times. Overall, the appearance of the gym is one of being clean. They have multiple people rotating through the space cleaning and they’ve been able to keep them on their staff. The locker rooms...
Read moreI was just looking, because I may be up that way. So I read some reviews to find what’s up at this place. This upsets Me, ( Now granted I’ve not been back to this LA club for a couple of years, i think it had changed from Bally’s & it was fine then, it’s a large place, and yeah, if it still has steam?) I may do a jaunt, but it will be distance now.
Ok, I will agree with Landon (5 Months ago), if this LA Fitness still has a Steam room Wow, and it works Great! Because the new LA ones did away with all of them! Why? I have no idea, Is it cost? True, if one complains about this place, OK yes it’s an elderly club, there are loads of others that are new and baby you pay! Some new ones have NO: Inside track, no pools, no Steam Rm, some may have a Sauna, some feel like it fits three or so, no Whirl Pool, and still some new clubs no matter which one, are neglected, and your paying big money too. Some people seem as they are born to complain, never satisfied, but hey the Country Clubs do exist, with all amenities you want and you will pay for it up the wazoo, so make up your mind up what do you want, because it’s out there for you. Wow, this gets me, your at a men’s club or whatever, yes one is nude people look 👀! You want Privacy stay home! Or shower at home! Have you ever traveled? Go to Europe, Asia & Africa the whole family are nude, they Bath together along with many other strangers too, and yes they all look! So seek the club you want, or have your own private Health Club! Face reality some places are up in age and still work, you pay for what you get. I do not think you’ll be hunted down by this club, or which ever one you belong too, you can choose another Health Club to join. Also guess what, I’ve been in some top class clubs, some are neglected too. Hey,...
