The interesting thing about how I found Boba Burger is that I found it while searching for the nearest Portillo's Hotdogs. Boba Burger showed up on the Yelp search map, and I identified its location inside of the bowling alley - Classic Bowl. I drive passed Classic Bowl often, but never noticed the Boba Burger logo while enroute to work, but I have spotted the Classic Bowl logo. After looking at its Yelp page and pictures, I figured that I would try it out because it was a lot closer than the nearest Portillo's Hotdogs. I was drawn to the BBQ Lechon Burger, but ended up ordering the Hawaiian Burger during my visit. That seems to be the normal for me, but I will take it because it just gives me another reason to return on a different date.
While waiting on my Hawaiian Burger to be finished, I had the opportunity to talk to the employee as well as look around the restaurant and bowling alley. My question to the employee was "Are most of your customers visitors from the bowling alley?" His response was yes! Reason why I asked was because Boba Burger was slightly empty! There were only four of us customers inside which befuddled me.
The menu at Boba Burger consisted of burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, and several sides that are actually separate.
During this visit, I ordered takeout, but started eating my fries before even walking out the door. I found myself eating them as I put ketchup inside of my bag at the restaurant as well as inside of my car, eventually telling myself stop! I ended up putting the bag in the backseat as my mouth water for more, hehe. I think next time I will just put the bag inside of my trunk, so that I cannot get to those fries. And that burger! There ain't nothing like scarfing down a sloppy burger, and boy was it sloppy! In fact! The spam kept sliding out from in-between the bun! But with the exception of it being juicy, it tasted good!
I would like to return on a later date to try the BBQ Lechon Burger because it was what lured me to Boba Burger before I saw the Hawaiian Burger on the menu. Looking at the building, it may seem congested due to the building being shared with the bowling alley, but I assure you the restaurant is not, and it is open until 11:30...
Read moreWe were out with friends one night and we hadn't had dinner. They suggested Boba Burger as I have a burger club. So off we went.
I ordered a double cheese burger and cheese fries as our friends told us that Boba Burger has great cheese fries (and I love cheese fries). My wife go the Banh Mi sandwich and our friends ordered shakes.
To give you an idea about Boba Burger...it's a tiny little burger spot located in the Classic Bowl bowling alley. It takes up a corner spot right by the front entrance. It's a small space with the menu up on the wall, a tiny counter to order from, a small kitchen and a "dining area" with about four-to-five four-person tables.
It's a cute little place.
And now that you've read about the ambiance, let's get to the food. In a word, "awesome"! The burger was incredibly juicy and flavorful. Each bite juicier than the next. After I finished the burger, truthfully, I wanted to order another burger. It was so good. I'm looking forward to going back just for that great burger. And then I tried the cheese fries. Holy cow are these good. These are some lame frozen fries. They are good quality fries and the cheese just smother on top (just how I like it). Yum! I will definitely return with my Burger Club, but I'll come back on my own several more times just myself and anyone I can drag with me.
Now on to the Banh Mi sandwich. It's a Vietnamese sandwich and my wife got it with chicken. She said it was fantastic and would easily get it again. Plus, she also had the cheese fries and said they were awesome.
Our friends got shakes. Two people got normal flavors and one of our friends ordered an avocado shake. You read that correctly. An avocado shake. And she swears by it. She loves it and always gets it. I know. Gross. But if you're into that kind of thing, more power to you , and now you know where to get a good one.
But go for the burger. or the banh mi sandwich, or the shakes, or the cheese fries, or all of it, because I'm telling you, you'll want to eat it all and go for seconds and thirds....
Read moreI cautiously entered the aging bowling alley to decide for myself if Boba Burger is as good as I've heard. After circling the parking lot to find a space during league play it better be.
The menu is a big sign on the wall and there are a lot of interesting choices. The prices are good, too. The guy at the counter was friendly and helpful. I ended up ordering the Seoul Burger.
It was simply incredible. Kimchi, kalbi glazed bacon, fried egg. A perfect blend of flavors and textures, and no cutting corners on quality. So freaking good!
The Thai iced tea is delicious, too.
SECOND VISIT: It was so good I had to bring my fiance back with me. I guess that friendly guy at the counter owns the place with his brother. Good folks, I enjoy talking to them.
She isn't as adventurous as me and ordered the more basic Boba Burger. Perfectly seasoned, perfectly seasoned, perfect sear. She was happy.
This time I tried the BBQ Lechon Burger. It isn't as over-the-top as the Seoul Burger but it was still delicious. Lechon is roasted pork belly. Paired with the ground beef, barbecue sauce, and topped with an onion ring, this is another winner.
Their Vietnamese iced coffee is really good. The egg rolls are above average, I had to fight her for that last one. Their fries are nicely crisped and well seasoned.
Bottom line: Yes, they have earned their reputation and I plan on working my way through...
