My experience working with Von Maur to purchase a mother-of-the-groom dress for my sonâs wedding was excellent! From the lovely selection of gorgeous gowns, to choosing the right dress for the occasion, the Von Maur staff was delightful every step of the way.
Chanel cheerfully helped both my friend and I on our initial visit to the Normal, IL Von Maur in December of 2022. Although I didn't find my dress on that day, Chanel assisted us, sharing her knowledge and complementary opinions of each of the few styles we liked. She encouraged me to come back soon because new dresses come in weekly. (Chanel took us to lingerie and showed several great options for my friend's dress. She also took us to shoes and pointed out a few possibilites to try on with the dress. Chanel went over and beyond which we appreciated and my friend found shoes that day too.)
Early in March, I took an overnight trip to Moline, IL and found myself with some shopping time at the Von Maur in SouthPark Mall. I headed to the formal dress department and there it was! I knew the style that I wanted after trying on dresses in Normal. My size was not on the rack but I tried the dress on that was closest to my size and knew instantly that it was the dress I desired. Linda was helping in dresses that day; she assured me that she could locate the dress in my size and have it shipped free to my home. Any alterations could be done at the Normal Von Maur which was only 45 minutes from my home. Later, Linda took the time to call me and let me know that she had located and completed the ordering process and for me to expect delivery within a week.
The dress was delivered to my home four days later. I took it and my shoes back to Normal where Chanel attentively called Miriam from alterations. Miriam was sweet and knowledgeable offering several alteration options. The hemming of my dress was complimentary. I received a phone call from Miriam within 7-10 days letting me know the alterations were finished.
I was thrilled that my dress fit perfectly. I received many compliments on it at the wedding and was quick to tell that I had found it at Von Maur and what a tremendous selection they carry.

   Read moreFor those of us who grew up in the Midwest, Von Maur was the go to store for gifts & luxury. Yesterday, I went with my mother, my sister, and my niece to shop and have a great experience after lunch. Three generations of shoppers. I was thrilled to see that the piano player is still there. Please always keep that it is so much fun. But I need to make Von Maur aware of how their employees are behaving. My niece is going back to school in the fall and we were in the childrenâs shoe area looking at options for her. There were four employees hanging out and chitchatting behind us. I overheard them talking about us. We were the only people at the time in that section, and not one of them offered to help us. In fact, as time went on, more and more people came to the section and all four employees completely disappeared. It was a young man and three young girls. They were much more concerned with gossiping and giggling than they were with actually making sales for the company that pays their paycheck. We ended up buying her four pairs of shoes at a different store because of that experience., It was a shame, because it ruined my experience, and I probably wonât go back. It is obviously not the same store that I loved in my childhood. I guess all good things must come to an end....

First, at the menâs suit counter they quickly pushed me away to another counter with extreme attitude; not wanting to help by being âbusyâ. Secondly, a gentleman working there pretending to fold clothes listened in on my conversation with another employee, I was thinking of purchasing a mens shirt and he oddly repeated my name after I gave my name to the madame taking it for an order. After that he gave me quick looks and âeye-balledâ me multiple times, just because I ordered other shirts a couple months back; but didnât buy them because they did not fit.
