My visit to Oberweis was, in every sense, a celebration of indulgence. I began with a scoop of their peanut butter cookie dough ice cream — a silken base of sweet cream, punctuated by ribbons of nutty richness and generous chunks of dough that lent both texture and nostalgia. It was decadent yet balanced, the sort of flavor that lingers on the palate and in memory.
While savoring this frozen delight, my experience took an unexpected turn. The adjoining That Burger Joint called to me, and I found myself with a double cheeseburger in hand. Stacked high and lavishly dressed with their special sauce — a tangy, complex condiment of real finesse — the burger proved far more than a casual accompaniment to dessert. The patties were juicy, the cheese melting luxuriously over every bite, a savory counterpoint to the sweetness of the ice cream.
What elevated both experiences beyond the plate was the service. A waiter of uncommon grace checked in on me with warmth and attentiveness, inquiring whether my meal satisfied and even offering fries. Later, overhearing my quiet wish for a cone instead of a cup, they surprised me with a crisp, golden cone, offered freely and with a smile. Such gestures, small yet deeply human, made the visit feel less like a transaction and more like a shared moment of hospitality.
It was, in sum, a magical experience: Oberweis providing the sweet overture, That Burger Joint delivering a savory crescendo, and the staff weaving it all together into an evening of connection...
Read moreThis is the third time I have waited in line for an online order for over 30 minutes after we pulled into the drive thru.
As soon as we get to the window they confirmed we have an online order again. 10 minutes pass and we're offered Chili cheese dogs.
No we didn't order that we respond in unison.
They messed up my order completely, was supposed to be different bun and toppings. They didn't add our sauces.
Then they tried to act surprised when we asked about the other half of our order.
Apparently they never received the ice cream part of our order and needed a manager to confirm this before making our food.
All the while, remember the chili hot dogs they offered us? Yeah that guy didn't get them until we asked if they wanted us to pull forward to help the rest of the line.
We pulled forward the line cleared and we returned to the window for our ice cream to then walk out the door.
The milk and ice cream are good. I'm really flabbergasted on how this location is surviving if they can't ask people to pull forward or prepare an online...
Read moreNot impressed. Went with friends in the drive thru. The lady took our order, repeated the first two orders to us 2 Sunday’s), took the second 2 orders (just shakes), repeated the second two back to us, needed the first two again, so we told her the first 2 orders again.
We get to the window: Our shakes are wrong. One was a regular size chocolate something (ours were both large) then, realized she only gave us one of the sundays. We told her and the original Sunday was also incorrect but didn’t say anything. And she also was like “well I won’t charge you for the second Sunday” (which was good, but frustrating. We were also holding up the line at this point) It was just a really big case of miscommunication for $35 - which the confusion was with the sundays. Very frustrating. They don’t usually...
