A Brides Worst nightmare. Zero stars. Having two upcoming weddings, I brought in the bride and hoped to find dresses for myself for the multiple weddings I would be in.
As we entered, a young girl with long dark hair approached and we explained what we needed. I asked if plus size dresses were seperated into a specific location. She replied that " larger sizes were simply mixed in. Dresses are sectioned or organized by brand. And they dont carry alot of larger sizes to try on". Sensing a tone I asked if there was a designer that tended to cater to plus size, to which I got the same reply about designers and larger sizes not really being available to try on. Thinking she was referring to the prom section we were standing in, I suggested to the future bride we head straight back to the bridal section. While walking back the bride stated "how do u find a dress if you can only shop by designer?" Being that i thought we were walking alone I stated, " sounds like they do not have very mich experience with plus size bodies". It was then small dark long hair popped out and began arguing "thats not true". Rant rant rant. I was so shocked at the tone and arrogance mixed with the confrontation, I simply did the "oookkkkk" and looked at dresses as she stormed off. The bride continued to look and took two dresses off the rack to try, which i was attempting to hold so bride could continue to look when same small long dark hair walked up and snatched dresses from me. Thinking she was actually going to be helpful , I turned and explained that the bride is a TRAUMA SURVIVOR WITH PTSD AND WOULD NEED A PRIVATE ROOM TO CHANGE Where NOONE WILL WATCH HER UNDRESS OR TOUCH HER. We were told that was not a possibility, that an associate had to be present and that WE were no longer "allowed " to try on dresses. *IF YOU PLAN TO SHOP HERE KNOW TWO THINGS: 1) they have very little experience with women above a size 14. They have even less tolerance for someone with a single special concern. 2) They give zero effs about the experience they are actually providing you with. They have their idea of how a fitting should go and any little thing outside of that "policy" will leave you bridal traumatized. But hey, if you only care about the designer of your dress....this is the place to go for you. Dont ask too many questions, it clearly upsets the staff. I can concur with other reviews that the staff is motivated by the cost of the dress and and how much your willing to pay. No bride should ever have been made to feel so shameful during what should be a beautiful time. No bride should ever leave a bridal shop hopeless, unworthy, and crying. Small dark long hair should feel remorse for such behavior, but Id bet the farm she sure does not. And thats just deplorable.
*UPDATE * For the Bridal Beauty who read this and became disheartened..... We ended up going to "the flawless bride" in Fairlawn, OH. THIS WAS WELL WORTH THE DRIVE!!!! cozy, charming boutique with ONLY plus size dresses. It was the bridal experience that your dreams are made of and...
Read moreI would HIGHLY discourage anyone from stepping foot in this bridal salon.
My older sister purchased her wedding dress and reserved a veil at this salon. When we found out that her veil had been discontinued and they only had the display model that had some small tears we asked for a price adjustment. Not only did they refuse to adjust the price but they then proceeded to threaten to throw her veil away. The situation was so stressful that they made my sister cry. Eventually they agreed to let us buy the damaged veil and told us that they "would not be offended if you chose to take your business elsewhere in the future."
A year later while prom dress shopping with my mother we decided to stop in and give them another chance. After receiving several dirty looks, I had chosen a few dresses to try on. Several employees came by and asked us our names saying things like "you look very familiar" and "you've done business here before haven't you?" One lady asked for my last name and a few moments later walked away. We saw her return and start whispering to the woman who had been helping my sister. When I pointed out one last dress before saying I was ready to try them on the woman took the dress off the rack and held it away from us. She then said "Now, before you try these dresses on - I know we have not been able to make you very happy in the past so are you sure that this is where you want to be looking for dresses?" After we said we were fine to try them on several times she continued asking if we were sure that we wanted to look for dresses in their salon - making it quiet clear that they wanted us to leave. We left feeling completely insulted.
Not only were the consultants catty and rude but they were extremely unprofessional and offensive. I would recommend any steer completely clear...
Read moreI will begin by saying that visiting Abbott's was my third time seriously shopping for dresses, and the experience was unparalleled. If you are going to shop here, Brook is your girl. She was adorable, patient, and honest. I don't want to hear that every dress looks good on me, and she was comfortable giving me her honest professional opinion, which was actually what made me feel 100% about the dress I chose. We were the last appointment of the evening and spent over two hours with her. Brook never made me feel rushed and offered numerous times to try on more options or to try on my favorites again. She showed me what the dresses looked like on models my size and was honest with how alterations would affect the look of each dress. I truly wish I could give her and this store a higher rating. If you're debating shopping here, DO IT! Also, the selection of dresses was the most comprehensive and had the most variation out of any other store I visited. What a wonderful experience - thank you Brook!
UPDATE! 5 months later and my dress came in. It was a disaster. Measuring was off or the lining was off, something. But the way that Brook and the owners of Abbotts handled my issue prompted me to come back on here and leave ANOTHER piece of glowing review. Not only did Brook give me EVERY option, she called in alterations, made phone calls to the owner to discuss further, and was truly just patient and kind the whole time. I NEVER felt like a resolution wouldn’t be reached. Mistakes happen, I’m understanding of that. But it is the way mistakes are handled that is truly telling and can make or break and experience with a specific retailer. What happened was a total fluke, and I don’t blame them at all. I would go back in a second and still recommend Abbotts bridal...
