Played our first round here and had such an enjoyable experience!
Starting with our arrival it was nice to see a clean parking lot with easy access to the small club house.
The starter greeted us promptly and got us checked in. The pro shop was small but adequately stocked and service was quick and friendly.
The carts seemed only months old, super clean, with modern GPS screens.
Driving range was on mats today (they seemed to be relatively new mats). What I loved about the driving range was how it is nestled behind olive trees with a great view of the mountains on the horizon. Colored yardage posts and little short game target nets dotted the range. Rock and roll played over the speakers from the patio - a nice touch to keep us swinging loose.
We were worried from other reviews that the course would be packed and lots of waiting. Luckily, we were kept as a twosome and had a twosome in front of us. We finished 18 under 4 hours! One of the cart attendants said we were a bit lucky cause they can be quite busy towards the weekend.
No fault of the golf club but it was a bit tedious to have the group ahead of us very obviously playing from the wrong tees - their second shot was almost always 75-100 yards ahead of the gold tee box (1 down from the back tees!) where they teed up from. They should have been hitting from the forward tees and we would all have had a much nicer time. I can see how this could make play really slow on busy days.
The greens were great, rolled true but faster than I expected from a neighborhood resort course. Fairways were a yellow color (which, I read, is what happens when Bermuda grass goes dormant as the season gets cooler) Otherwise they were in great condition and very easy to hit shots off of.
This was a great course for our level of play. As a 90’s shooter fairways were very forgiving, very few forced carries, some nice short par 4’s, bunkers not constantly in your path. Most greens have a bailout or landing area if you want to play safe. The par 3’s were inviting, well landscaped and approachable. The long #14 par 3 has a short fairway for the shorter hitters.
It was nice to see “junior tees” which provided a much more enjoyable experience for my girlfriend who, at only a year in playing golf, made hitting the fairway less intimidating.
And, a rarity for even some of the nicer golf courses in Las Vegas - clean, well stocked bathrooms!
Finally, the neighborhood is cute - backyards were pretty well kept, no loud stereos or distractions. All houses are single-story so there were mountain views all day. Rustic wood bridges passed over little arroyos throughout.
All of the staff were wonderful and took the time to make us feel welcomed. Several even asked us if we’ve ever played Aliante before - they all seemed proud of their club and wanted us to feel comfortable - nods to Cai and Primo for their hospitality.
After Primm Valley golf closed this summer we were bummed that we wouldn’t have a chill, laid back course to play. After our experience at Aliante I’m sure we’ll be back for more. Also, $69 for a Nevada resident...
Read moreI moved to Clark County five years ago. I have meant to play this course and today was the first time. I was looking forward to it. Wow, I can’t believe they allow their employees to be suck jerks. I used to be in the PGA, I have been around golf for a long time and this was the worst experience I have had. I got there and after hitting some putts walked into the bar to grab a cocktail while I waited for my friends to show. When I walked in what turned out to be the bartender gave me the worst look and kind of stared. I came in the side door near the kitchen which she was walking into. I went to the bar, a minute or two later she came out to serve drinks. There was a man before me, when she looked at me I mentioned he was before me. Damn, that evil look on her face was real-she Snapped back at me with “I KNOW” in a super rude tone. Since there wasn’t a bartender when I walked up how could I know. I apologized mentioning I was trying to be respectful.
Fast forward to me going out to check in. The man running the tees out front was absent for a moment so I was browsing his sheet from a distance. He came and with a little tone in his voice asked if he could help me. I asked if the tee times were on time, it looked very busy out there. The man gave me the dirtiest look and dropped his head until two guys walked by, then looked up at me with a super angry look in his eyes and in all seriousness chastised me stating something to the effect of ( if we are behind it is because of people like you asking if we are on time) I quickly apologized and walked back saying don’t worry about it.
These were my first two greetings at the course. I was super offended and definitely insulted, in a different setting I might have told them both to kick rocks and asked for their manager. After driving 45minutes from Boulder City I decided not to say anything because it was so beautiful out, and I came down to have a good time. I did not come down however to pay to be treated with such hyper disrespect for no reason at all. I have never been to a place where they treat their customers like trash. I own a business, I would have fired both on the spot if I witnessed my employees treating guests like that. Here is the kicker, I am looking to buy in a Sun City development. It will certainly not be Aliante and I have no intention of returning.
The golf course is a solid layout, the conditions are bad. It is winter, but for $72 for Clark County residents-play somewhere else with far better conditions and respect for the guests.
We quit after 16 holes. It took 2.5 hrs to play the first 8 holes. We thought it was the fivesome two groups up causing the delay. When we drove in we saw the real reason for what would have been 5:15 to 5:30 hrs-it was the 8some of beginners. I will say that again, no joke, -8some.
The one bright spot was the cart girl, she was great.
This place isn’t the worst conditions I have seen in Vegas, but it was the worst experience I have had. It is a reflection of management-has to be to allow what they do. Bye bye Aliante, wish I could say it...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that the Director of the golf course is really a nice and honest guy From Georgia. When I moved here in 2018, this was pretty much my home course, I got to know the Maintenance staff, restaurant staff, and most of the pro shop staff. There was an Employee change in the pro shop, Like most places people come and go. But it was this young man, in the pro shop that would always give me the back-and-forth conversation with me, being a single trying to get out on a course. As a single, I understand sometimes the course can be completely booked for tee Times. All I needed to hear from him, to say, possibly there might be a cancellation, and we might be able to get you off and check with the starter. But the young man took it a step further, to demonstrate him being overbearing and Kind of rude to me, by adding in extra comments during our conversation. During my time, standing there in the pro shop, a member of the golf club came in and asked for a bucket of balls. I had asked the young man before the member came in to purchase a bucket of balls, I was told that he could not do it yet, but the member came in, and the young man handed him a bucket of balls. I said to him how does he get balls and I can’t even purchase a bucket of practice balls. His answer was we do that for members, go figure that one out. So I headed to the practice putting green, and no more than two minutes went by, when one of the head pros there, walk by, and told me that I could get some balls now. go figure that one out, what changed in two minutes. I felt like I was totally disrespected as a customer. This was not the first time this young man, had a back-and-forth conversation with me, each time I came there, there was always some type of dysfunctional Remarks coming out of his mouth. Later, I had a private meeting with the Director of the golf course and stated my complaint, about how I was treated, when I open the directors door, both the young man and The other head, pro, was standing next to the door, trying to listen in on the conversation. As you can see, this was months ago, and it’s still on my mind, how I was treated by the young man behind the counter. That’s why I choose to go to other courses, even though they are further away. The golf course itself Is a nice little track, the Director has been trying to make improvements as time goes by, but that does not excuse how I was treated by the young man behind the counter. Other employees on the course, agreed and acknowledge my complaint, but they didn’t want to comment, knowing that they will get their self in trouble. I still might come and play there, but not as often when I first moved here to Las Vegas. I’m sure I’m not the only one at some point in time has experienced this young man’s...
