RACIST BELK STORE!!!
It's 2016 and racial profiling exists still in the Belk store. I would think that after the incident with Barneys store in New York that these stores would realize that all black people don't steal. My family has been vacationing in Myrtle Beach for probably 20 years and this year was no different until tonight....
So here's what happened on the night of Thursday August 18, 2016: We visited Myrtle Beach Mall and ended with a friend of mine going into Belk and trying on ear rings. After trying some on she placed the ones she didn't want back on the counter for the lady and proceeded to purchase the ones she did. Shortly after exiting the store a young lady comes out and tracks us down. Tells my friend that she forgot something in the store and that she should come back to retrieve it. Not knowing that this lady is with loss prevention she returns to the store she she was bombarded with accusations and insults. Loss prevention said things like "just give me the ear ring and go about your business" and "either you give it to me or I'm going to have you arrested" "I know you stole it" "I saw you" "your going to jail cause I'm calling the cops" until finally my friend insisted she check the video because she's not a thief. So Ms. Loss prevention checks the video and sees that while trying on ear rings one fell and my friend bent down to pick it up and proceeded to place them on the counter. Apparently after being placed on the counter it fell off again. The lady from loss prevention went back to the ear ring station and actually found the "lost" ear ring. Price of the earrings was about 12 bucks.
Shame on you Belk for not asking questions before making accusations. What could have been easily chalked up to a mistake ends up with a black eye to your establishment for flat out telling a person they are guilty before asking what happened. We will never visit your stores again. You should consider hiring loss prevention employees that treat all customers equally. The store not having much money and having to pay for any missing items is not a good enough excuse for that kind of treatment. No apology and no coupon for a future visit even though we wouldn't have...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSorry I can't give a good review. This store is so unappealing! Nothing like your store at Coastal Grand. You never have enough help. I feel like it's an old folks store! I was just looking for a black bootcut Jean's. Couldn't find anything that looked fashionable. the mall in which I am speaking about is in North Myrtle Beach or close to it. I understand they're going to be redoing it and they should. I would like to see them close Belk at this end and put another store to create more interest for people to come to this mall. my guess is that even if they do this it will be years down the road before it's complete I would recommend that you cut your losses now and concentrate more on the store at coastal Grand in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBalk used to be one of my favorite stores to shop at. Not so much anymore. Our Belk in Sumter SC has let me down so many times. When I need a new pair of dress pants, I go there and spend an hour going through every stack. I find the color I really want, and no 38X34. I find this hard to believe, it's like they never restock these sizes. When I do find the right size its in the wrong color. I have asked about this, and they always say, we will get a truck in next week. I guess when the truck comes in, it doesn't have these sizes on it. I always have to compromise, and get something I really didn't want. While here at the Beach, we were able to find my 13 year old a pair of jeans. The selection was...
