Ellie Beans (Myrtle Beach Mall) — Restaurant in North Myrtle Beach

Tucked away from the hustle of the food court, Ellie Beans is a tiny coffee and donut shop. Not all busy we took a chance on coffee and a packet of mini cinnamon sugar donuts. Donuts are freshly made in front of you while you wait. The staff was perfunctory with us, a bit more animated with another customer. Not sure what to think of that. Coffee was so so. Myrtle Beach isn't exactly a coffee connoisseurs paradise. Bordered on the bitter side (perhaps it has been sitting for a while) non coffee drinkers really don't understand how coffee doesn't stay fresh past 30 or so minutes. Donuts are like the kind you get at a fair or circus. They are ok but consider 8 mini Donuts at $4.50 and these 8 minis may be equivalent of on regular sized donut, suddenly it's not such a good deal. A large cuppa set us back $3. So all in all for a short coffee break. It was a tad on the high side. I have actually found McDonald's coffee tastes just as good, if not better for a fraction...

I was in the area and craving mini donuts. Searched online and found this little joint and was excited to see it was ran by a mother and her daughter! When I arrived nobody was at the counter but then a man sitting in chairs behind us says “can I help y’all?”. We ordered mini donuts with strawberry and chocolate topping. I was disappointed when they came out prepackaged and the man said I’m sorry we didn’t wanna turn our machine on today. $5 for old/cold donuts and some topping, ridiculous.

The drinks were got were way too sweet. We ordered an ice coffee and were disappointed when the ice coffee was store bought and the flavoring was overpowering. The latte we order was also on the too sweet side. If we are paying $11 for drinks, we expect quality and not just something we make at home and certainly make at home better.

The service though was really kind. The lady who made our drinks made sure we didn’t have allergies to ensure our safety. We just expected better...
