Read moreThis mall is making a gradual comeback. Check out Player's choice, with their fantastic retro games/comic selection! Not to mention their 80's/90's arcade! Also, if you're looking for a good chuckle check out the religious (spiritualist) personality cult outlet by JCP! Dialectical Materialism idealist, metaphysical Spiritualism. Anyways, there's an amazing Model Train outlet that deserves appreciation and recognition for the intensity of labor that went into creating their artistic display. Bass Pro shop will keep you hooked for a while with solid prices and satisfactory customer service. Catch a flick at the cinema, it's currently ran to adequate standards, which to be honest, is above average for most movie theaters. The food court, the heart of the mall, needs to be prioritized by the owners of the mall. The Animal Riders attracts enough of business that it's what keeps the food court from becoming a complete ghost town. The rent is apparently reasonable (for obvious reasons) so if you're looking to start a business or move one somewhere new, consider the mall as a new location. The mall is only lacking a few new stores/outlet, if they can gain some new shops, the food court too will gradually make a comeback. The food court just needs some unique choices that aren't...
My first time visiting this mall… it must have been grand in its beginning and middle parts of its existence. Now it is a ghost of its former self. There are signs saying exciting renovations coming soon. The jury is still out on how soon or if ever it will get those updates.
The mall doesn’t smell musty or stale, but it does smell funny.
There’s enough lights on for it to be dim. The rest are off. My guess is they rely heavily on natural light where possible.
The food court had three restaurants open- pizza, Asian, and one option I wasn’t sure off.
There are four big name brands I recognized- AMC Belk, Outdoor World, and books A Million. There are also a few miscellaneous stores, a gift shop, fitness place, two theaters, a game store (with attached arcade) and a church.
I think the biggest draw to this this place is AMC, the game store (with attached arcade), the church, and the gym.
If you need a temperature controlled place to walk this would be a good a place.
When we come back to this area...
Read moreIt's a shame seeing some of these negative reviews. Yes, it's an old mall that doesn't have much to offer anymore, but nostalgia. And, that's the great part about it. There aren't many old school malls left, and walking into this one is like going back in time. A time when things were much simpler, and better in so many ways. I'll always have a special place in my heart for this mall, and the fact they have a retro arcade filled with all the classic video games from the 70's, 80's, and 90's. All to play for a quarter each. If you're looking for a updated modern mall, then this place is most likely not for you, but if you want to have an hour or so to take in all those great memories from your youth, and take a break from this crazy world we live in today, put the time aside to check this place out... Oh, and by the way, that smell everyone is talking about? That's the smell of nostalgia....
