Hammond Beatles Fest 2023 was in the worst possible venue for music ever! The streets surrounding it were closed/restricted due to construction, making it hard to find. The venue itself was a worn, dirty asphalt parking lot surrounded by commercial buildings and a railroad embankment. The noise from one of the buildings a/c made it difficult to hear the music if you sat near it. Trains running on the embankment would blare their horns, also drowning out the music. In the evening, four huge spotlights on the embankment came on and shined in the audience's faces. The food choices were very limited and the beer, at $6-$8, was overpriced. Not being in a much nicer setting, like the Wolf Lake Pavilion, there was nowhere to walk or stretch your legs between acts. All in all, while the music was good, it barely made up for the terrible setting and ambiance, especially given the $20 price of just General Admission.
