Making my own personal review as a former employee since they continue to hide reviews on Google. this place does not value their employees and takes advantage of their kindness to animals in need. They do not care about the well-being of their employees nor do they care about the people that they bring into the building. Theyâll have you working two jobs for $11 an hour, and when you ask for a raise look at you like youâre crazy. You ask for higher opportunities and instead of giving them to you, they give them to new people coming into the shelter. They Will fire people over advocating for Animals who are being euthanized for basic behaviors like resource guarding bones (something that can be fixed by simply NOT GIVING that resource basic dog training info) . But theyâll keep an animal thatâs very visibly in pain to give it Thousand dollars in treatment just so they can use it as a sob story. when confronted about issues they go ignored. Itâs all about following the rules unless itâs their favorite employee. And then when you offer to volunteer as someone who has is dog trainer to help with the animals who potentially have behavior problems and as someone who worked with them for almost two years , you get turned away because you gave them some constructive criticism on a review previously, and they canât take constructive criticism. Instead, theyâll just tell you you canât come back to the shelter instead of taking the help that someone is offering to help the animals in need To help them get adopted. They Cannot put their own ego above the animals welfare. Iâm not the only person whoâs had this experience not a single person Iâve seen leaving this facility Has had a Good experience as an employee. They either get fired for taking their job More seriously than the rest. And not wanting to play stupid games like Jeopardy or you get fired for disagreeing with them the reasoning being âunprofessional â , Because you didnât want to follow their own unprofessionalism. They only have one HR person who barely ever answers and who will only answer if itâs something negative towards whatever employee that is. But God forbid an employee calls to make a complaint and tries to get some help about a higher up making bad decisions and it gets ignored, once again that favoritism coming in should never be only person in HR For that exact reason, itâs too biased. The facility is a wonderful facility. The animal deserve to be adopted. But the facility is only a wonderful looking facility because they constantly win grants. Take some time to visit other shelters and see how destroy they are some even closing because they donât have money. Those are the ones that deserve these grants that have absolutely nothing. I used to send people this way and have multiple Customers who have gone to this facility because of me recommending them going to adopt. I will no longer be recommending people to adopt there and be recommending for them to go to the other shelters who obviously need more help. Since they Canât take any help from people offering it nor will they take an ounce of Constructive criticism without taking it personal. You cannot be a humane society and not be Humane to your employees AND...
Read moreI am very disappointed with this humane society. I started volunteering here six years ago when I was in high school. I was too young at the time to do anything with the cats, dogs, or other animals so I did Tag Days for several years. This past summer, I decided that since I was old enough, I would like to get more of a hands-on approach and volunteer inside of the humane society. Well, was I in for a rude awakening.
Whenever I would go to volunteer, I noticed that many of the other volunteers and workers there seemed very cliquish...some of them would give me looks like, "What are you doing here?" Made me feel very uncomfortable but I shrugged it off until one incident that changed everything.
One day, I brought a family friend with me to this humane society because she was battling stage IV brain cancer and I wanted to try to lift her spirits by letting her see the animals there. When I asked if we could see some of the dogs, the volunteers acted weird around us.
While we were in one of the socialization rooms, one volunteer came in the room my friend and I were in and rudely told us, "You know that someone is coming to adopt that dog." I told her no, I didn't know that and we were just socializing with the dog for a bit. I told her that I was a volunteer there as well. Then, I guess my friend must have accidentally dropped a pill from her purse because then the other volunteer rudely said, "You dropped a pill on the floor - I'd hate for one of the dogs to get to it." Then the volunteer left.
After we left, I told my friend that I felt like the people at the humane society were mean and she said she noticed it too.
My friend lost her battle to cancer two months ago and I am DISGUSTED that her last memory of this place was so negative. I am DISGUSTED with the behavior I saw from the workers and volunteers here. If I could not give this place ANY STARS I wouldn't.
I will never volunteer at this humane society EVER AGAIN and I hope that maybe one day, they'll get better volunteers and workers so that NO ONE, especially someone with CANCER, will have to be treated the way that my friend and I were. Absolutely disgusting...
Read moreI was looking to partner with an organization to help TNR the community cats and decided to try this place. From day one, the woman handling intake was incredibly rude and condescending.
I rented a trap, signed the contract, and paid the $60 deposit (they deduct $5 for each day you have it). After 10 days, they called and asked me to return it. I made arrangements with them over the phone to bring it back that Monday. When I showed up, they were closed due to a parvo outbreak. I left a voicemail explaining the situation, said I could only return it Friday since Monday was my only day off, and clearly stated I expected the $5 daily charge to stop, as I had fulfilled my obligation by showing up as agreed. I got a call back confirming that Friday was fine.
When I returned the trap Friday, I was told I owed an additional $30. I calmly asked for clarification and was told it was based on the number of days. I said I would go get the cash. However, they wanted me to leave something behind. I had brought nothing with me to run this errand. They had me wait in the lobby while the intake woman spoke with her manager to figure out how they wanted to handle it. When she came back, she told me I would be allowed to go get the cash, but they had decided to ban me from the property and from using their services ever again.
They made assumptions that I would not return and said that not coming with cash at the moment of returning the trap is considered theft. Nowhere in the contract does it say anything about being banned or that not bringing payment immediately would be treated like a crime. I was treated with clear suspicion and disrespect, and it felt racially motivated. I will not be returning, and I hope others think twice before working with a place that treats...
