My son lives in Munster and has a small house so we stay in town close by. We have not stayed here before, but thought we would give it a try. My husband is an hhonors Member and we’ve stayed at Homewood suites and other locations before and they’re all pretty standard.
I’m husband made the room reservation about two months ago when we knew we were coming to visit my son. One day before we checked in, my husband received a message that the king suite he had reserved was no longer available and we were going to have a suite with two queen beds. He said this is not acceptable so they gave him some money off of the price.
The layout of this hotel was standard also. We noticed right away though that the floors appeared dirty, there was trash on the floor of the elevator, and bags of trash strewn throughout the elevator lobbies and hallways.
When we arrived at our room, we noticed that there was a trash receptacle outside our front door. It was still filled with trash. We had no trash can in our bathroom so we assumed it was ours and took it in. We noticed that the room appeared to have not been made up:
Stains on the sheets and pillowcases; they did not look clean. No hand soap, no shampoo or conditioner. Dishwasher was filled with dishes that appeared clean, but we don’t know for sure.
We informed the front desk about all of these issues and they said they would send someone to clean our room the next day(today), and they dropped off shampoo and conditioner at our room. I picked up bar soap from the front desk.
We just got back to the room after being gone all day and No clean sheets They took dirty hand towels but did not give us clean ones. Dishes are still in the dishwasher. In fact, they added our dirty dishes to the clean dishes already in the unit but did not turn it on so now they are all dirty. Floor still not vacuumed. The mirror looks like it was wiped down with a dirty sponge; I can barely see through it….
So now as I sit on the bed and write this, I am dreading getting under the covers in the dirty sheets that were dirty when we checked in…
Tomorrow we check out.. done with this place!
At least there is shampoo. We are “one and done” for...
Read moreHOMEWOOD HILTON SUITES I was allowed accommodation in two of their rooms. One was a king size suite, the other was a one bedroom king size suite. The first room had no damages but plenty of noise coming from children being allowed to run up and down the hallways until the wee hours of the morning. The toilet seat was extremely low not a problem if you are short but for someone taller a bigger … A problem. The situation involving housekeeping was weird confusing and looked like an outside source was being used. The outside source being used for housekeeping made for some uncomfortable vibes with the housekeeping already staffed at the hotel. When you are starting YOUR own business never ruffled the feathers of others while trying to accomplish this move. The room itself was decent, the bed was fairly comfortable, there is a full kitchen stacked with utensils, pots and dishes. The Guest Services were VERY HELPFUL and TRUE PROFESSIONALS - ESPECIALLY MS. TREE. She was mostly around to accommodate my GUESTS SERVICES needs. There was also a young Hispanic girl who worked the guests services desk on the weekends very nice/helpful. Children were always running loose being totally unsupervised at all hours of the day night and wee morning hour. The laundry room was a hot mess just messy. The newer washer was damaged with all kinds of messy chemicals spillages everywhere seriously??? There was a big footed stomper who was housed over me the first week I stayed at the hotel. Not good. kept stomping until eventually they were either moved or kicked the heck out of the hotel. SMDH. A hotel isn’t the place for an audition to do tryouts for a new broadway musical people. Very clean extremely clean hotel and is a very popular hotel. This hotel was always booked to the HILT - ton!!! GET IT LOTS OF DAMAGES UNFORTUNATELY ALL WERE REPORTED TO...
Read moreI booked a room a month in advance at Homewood Suites in Munster, IN for my daughter’s 5th birthday sleepover. The day of check-in, I got a call saying my room was canceled because of a “leak” — even though I had a confirmed reservation and they had already sold out. I was sent to their sister hotel, Hampton Inn, instead.
When I arrived, my room wasn’t even ready, so I had to come back later while juggling birthday plans. In a rush, I signed their paperwork — no one told me anything about a “no birthday party” policy. This wasn’t a wild party — just a few kids ages 2–5 swimming, eating, and celebrating.
Later that evening, a staff member named Julie came upstairs, immediately upset, and told us we all had to leave over one noise complaint. I offered to buy another room to stay within their policy since my room had two queen beds and a pullout couch, but she refused and said she’d already called the police.
The way Julie handled the situation was completely unprofessional and unnecessary. She didn’t try to talk to me calmly, didn’t give any warning, and made my 5-year-old cry on her birthday as police showed up — all because a few little girls were laughing. Thankfully, the Munster police officers were kind and understanding, and even told me to contact corporate because of how wrong it was handled.
We left and stayed at another hotel, where the staff was friendly and welcoming — they even asked if the kids enjoyed the pool! Huge difference in how guests are treated.
It’s unacceptable for a hotel to treat paying customers, especially families with young children, this way. I hope corporate addresses how Julie handled this situation, because it was completely...
