I realize that due to the pandemic things are not normal and it's understandable why the hotel has chosen not to provide swimming pool use or housekeeping services for short term guests, however this also means that the hotels overhead costs are down: fewer employees, less laundry, minimal pool maintenance costs and no breakfast room with choices of fruit, cereal, etc. In spite of the above, hotel guests pay the same room fees they would if all the above amenities were offered. With all those savings it's not unreasonable to imagine that some thought might have been given to what kind of breakfast might be safely offered. Instead, guests are provided with a cardboard box containing a sealed plastic bag with two hard boiled eggs in a tablespoon of anemic looking liquid, a so called bagel that tastes like cardboard, a packet of cream cheese and a small portion of flavored Yoplait yogurt. Other than the yogurt, this so called breakfast was inedible, unappetizing and insulting. In spite of the challenges the pandemic presents, it would not be that hard to do better. The hotel could extend breakfast hours, limit capacity, require reservations and have staff dish out food ordinarily retrieved by hotel guests themselves. If not that, a box could contain a decent bagel from one of the local bakeries, a piece of fresh fruit (bananas are a safe choice), yogurt, a small box of cereal, or other safe offerings. My room was fine and the staff were friendly and helpful but the breakfast was so terrible that my overall impression of the hotel is negative. It will be a long time before I would ever choose to stay at this...
Read moreHotel chain that the spouse absolutely lovez. We've stayed in a Hampton the last few times we've traveled and I have to agree with her that they are clean, roomy and inexpensive choices for any traveler. Breakfast in the morning is complimentary and well done for my taste. Either omelets or scrambled for eggs plus boiled on the side, some type of meat also (usually turkey sausage/bacon for a little healthier option). Cereal selection along with fruit, bagels, rolls, and kid/adult favorite waffle iron. Fresh coffee and decaf for unleaded people like me. Rooms we have stayed in have comfortable king size bed, pillows are not my favorite (hotel chains listen up- buy My Pillow for all rooms) but overall the sleep experience is good. Have only had to use ear plugs once or twice due to noisy neighbors, rooms are fairly well insulated for sound. Coffee in the lobby 24 hours for guests but this Hampton didn't have jug of flavored water also in the afternoon/evening like other locations so that was missed. The reason for 4.5 instead of 5 (again because this rating doesn't allow half stars) was check-in was a bit off. We arrived early b4 3:00 check in nut our room wasn't ready. Other guests arrived b4 3:00 and their rooms were magically available. Counter clerk did not notify us when room was ready (we waited in lobby) but rather we had to approach and inquire whether room was ready at 3:00. Minor but a bit irritating that they knew we were waiting but couldn't be bothered to inform us when the room was ready for use. But overall Hampton is one of our short list...
Read moreWorse experience I have ever had checking into a hotel. We booked hotel rooms at least a month prior to our stay. We were coming to Indiana to celebrate my nephews 4th birthday and had a total of 6 rooms for our family. Whoever helped my sister book our connecting rooms over the phone did not do it correctly and it was not right when we came to check in. We were helped by Amanda who said I will have to cancel the reservation and make a new one, which we agreed to do. However she never told us that in doing this it would completely change the total of the room for our 1 night stay. Instead of the $200 rate that everyone else in my family paid for their rooms, we had to pay $373 which is outrageous!!! She was not helpful at all and just kept saying I told u I had to cancel the reservation over and over... Then threaten to kick us out as we were shocked and upset that our cost had almost doubled...Then on top of it all she didn't check us into the connecting room anyway and we had to change with my mom's room to be connected to my sisters room. If we hadn't driven over 2 hours to stay and celebrate my nephews birthday with the rest of my family we would not have stayed. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the other hotels in the area as this was definitely not worth the money we paid. This error was on the hotel and the extra cost should have been waved especially since we brought so much business to the hotel. Needless to say we will definitely...
