What a beautiful ice arena! Well-run and meticulously maintained with helpful, highly competent staff, this is the place to be!
Glenview Ice operates in a 45-year-old building that was fully renovated and reopened in September 2020 to a state-of-art facility with two full-sized rinks, a half-sized rink, a pro shop, a dry-land training area, a full service restaurant, amongst other modern amenities, all accessible to persons with disabilities. The views alone are incredible - glass enclosed rinks and upper-level bleacher seating create an atmosphere of being ‘in the action.’
Hockey Director, Sylvain Turcotte, is internationally known. This program offers summer leagues and off-ice training, playing host to many local hockey clubs including the Glenview Park District. The facility hosts regional hockey tournaments and year-round ice time for rent.
Additionally, GCIC is a top-end training facility for figure skating. In addition to hosting free-style skaters, it’s an excellent training faculty for all levels of US Figure Skating’s competitive athletes.
For new and less experienced skaters, GCIC participates in US Figure Skating’s Learn-to-Skate program curriculum that accepts children ages 4 and up. This is quality skating instruction with professionally credentialed USFSA coaches.
I highly recommend Glenview Community Ice Center for your on-ice sports training...
Read moreLove the facility. Plenty of parking. Great drop Off zone. The stairs are labeled “stairs.” There’s a great pro shop for hockey players and they serve fresh local doughnuts in the morning.
The big draw here besides the game is the fast casual oasis on the second floor referred to by locals as “Kayla’s Corner.” Kayla’s Corner is actually managed by North Branch, a fantastic restaurant/ bar in Glenview.
I had the cheese curds. They come with ranch and marinara sauce. The curds could use a bit of seasoning. The marina could be heated or warmed up? And Is there a secret menu for regulars? Not confirmed, but you can ask. I hear the smash burgers are delicious. Rumors of adding an egg and other off menu treats is a good thing.
Local favorites include the Famous Chopped salad with chicken . The aforementioned smash burger, loaded fries. Anything here beats most hot offerings at other arena snack bars
They have a full bar with premium spirit options, average craft beer selections and Macro beer. La Columbe coffee in cans and other drinks to go are available.
Worth the journey. Great...
Read moreI highly recommend the Glenview Community Ice Center for free skating and specially for ice skating courses for children.
We have been using this facility for little over two months as of this posting date for my daughter’s skating lessons and have utilized the free skating hours on the weekends.
The facility is super clean in and out, massive space for parking, friendly pick up/drop off right in front of the main entrance, and the skating coaches are simply amazing. The coaches are very good with the kids and have attention to detail. My daughter loves it here and has been looking forward to her skating classes each and every time we have been attending.
Of course, for none residence the prices are higher, but overall it is worth it as it is in close proximity and the facility, staff and classes offered are great compare to other locations and facilities in the area.
Highly recommended for those who love skating and have kids who want to...
