I want to be very clear: this 1-star review is solely due to the unacceptable behavior of the manager and is not a reflection of the food or the waiting staff, both of which were great.
Here’s what happened: the owner of The Clove visited our store and asked us to help promote their newly opened restaurant. We agreed and were given a flyer offering 15% off. When my wife and I visited The Clove, I forgot to bring the physical flyer but had a clear digital copy on my phone.
Upon entering, I asked the hostess if I could use the digital version. She wasn’t sure but said she would ask someone. Toward the end of our meal, I brought it up again while ordering my final dish. The person I spoke to turned out to be the manager — and unfortunately, this is where the experience took a very negative turn.
Instead of handling the situation calmly or professionally, the manager became visibly agitated, dismissive, and rude. He abruptly stated that the coupon was only valid Monday through Thursday, and that digital versions were not acceptable because "people would keep reusing them." While I understand the need to set terms for discounts, there is absolutely no excuse for how aggressively and disrespectfully he communicated this. Even worse, he then turned around and started scolding the staff about the same issue in front of customers.
This kind of behavior is unacceptable in a customer-facing role, especially from someone in a leadership position. It completely ruined what could have been a regular dining spot for us. We were genuinely excited to support a new local restaurant and had even considered making this our go-to place after my wife’s pregnancy. Sadly, this was our first and last visit.
To be fair, the food was delicious, the waitstaff was friendly and attentive, and the little touch of providing warm towels before the meal was thoughtful and appreciated. A+ for that.
But none of that makes up for being treated so poorly by the manager. I sincerely hope the owners address this behavior before it drives more potential...
Read moreMy friends, and I finally got a chance to dine in. The owner, Ankar greeted us with a big smile, and told us it's ladies night on Wednesday's. Who doesn't enjoy half off on drinks. Ismita did a great job waiting on us. She was kind, and sweet. We decided to try their margaritas, because they looked so yummy. I tried the Mango Margarita, and pleasantly surprised how tasty it was. Our second round of drinks, we were served with skinny Margaritas, and man were they good, and strong. For appetizers we decided on the dumplings, and palak paneer. Both were very good. The side sauce for the dumplings was amazing. For dinner, we ordered the Chicken Vindaloo which was spectacular, the chicken Madras curry which was also very good with lots of flavor. I've got to say, my fav was the Vindaloo. Tandoori Afghani kabobs were delicious, Chicken Tikka Kabobs were also a favorite. The chicken Biryani was outstanding. Don't forget to order the garlic Naan, they are a must try. The restaurant is very pretty, and clean. The owner told us they have a belly dancer Thursday nights. Can't wait to be back for some entertainment, and great food. I had to update my review because I had take out the first time. Definitely give this place a try if you love Indian food, as much as I do. Thanks for the service 🥰
My first time here, and unfortunately it was for take out. I would have loved to dine in, because the restaurant was really pretty. I was pleasantly surprised. Nice quant bar to the left. I def look forward to dining in very soon. I did order chicken tikka masala, which was accompanied by white rice. Very tasty, and spicy as I requested. Can't wait...
Read moreMade reservations for 2 to celebrate my friend’s 90th birthday and requested for comfortable seating and away from direct sunlight coz of his eye issues, this was at least a week before the date of the dinner. We got there and I reminded the host about my request and right away we were told all booths are not available and they have a lot of reservations. He was sort of standoffish and like he could not care about it. He proceeded to give us a table that was in direct spot for the sunlight. Thank goodness the waitstaff were more than gracious than the host. Food was really good, aloo chat was amazing. And i love the mango margarita. Nothing special about chicken tandoori, it was a bit dry. Atmosphere was loud and i could tell my friend was getting anxious coz he couldn’t hear me well. That’s why a booth i thought would have been much better. I am very disappointed celebrating my friend’s 90th here, they should have at least phoned me if they were not able tp consider my request upon reservation. Waitstaff was attentive, 5 stars for them. Unfortunately the host, who gives the first impression for customers in restaurants was only 1/2 stars. He came by at our table and greeted my friend but at that point I was turned off already. As we were leaving he asked if he could open the door for us, my friend was using a rollator. Other restaurants would not even ask u if they could open the door for u, they just do it. Mind you when we left, some booths were still open. Very disappointing accommodations. I am embarrassed that i brought my friend here to celebrate...
